jamiethesilent: I was curious about your audiobook question. Do you know of Kindle? Check out this link:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015T ... inw_strp_0

Freaks, Geeks & Asperger's Syndrome is available on Kindle (as well as most any book). Then, I checked; Kindle has a text-to-speech feature! I understand the 'speech' program is much improved and listen-able (as opposed to those 'mechanical' sounding voices). Granted, Kindle is pricey, but it's a one-time investment and you may be able to use Kindle for school.

Refer to Kindle's Read-To-Me function in the link above. (Fine for UK too).

Anyway, check with your local public library. Oftentimes they offer book on audio! I know it's can be tough to find books on audio, and they can be expensive. Good luck! And enjoy your book :study:

[P.S. I'm considering getting a Kindle for research/academics, etc. Far easier than lugging around heavy book and scattered papers.]

I strongly suggest you get a Kindle. I have a Kindle 2 and it is the best device I have ever owned. And it's true! You don't need audiobooks if you are using a Kindle! Its built-in text-to-speech software is remarkable.

If you want to know more about what the Kindle can do, check out this post or this post on my blog.

I love reading, I would love a kindle, but I'm thinking of an iPad because of the iBooks app and it's basically a computer.
Audio books are great too. I just prefer reading. Your choice haha.

Don't get an iPad. Everyone who has it can't stand how hard it is to read books on it. If you read more than one book a month, then the $189 Kindle 3 (free 3G+Wi-Fi) is right for you. If price is an issue, you could get the Kindle Wi-Fi for $139.

-The iPad's battery life is 10 hours whereas the Kindle 3's battery life is over 650 hours (one entire month!) on just a single charge.

-You could get iPad with Wi-Fi only for $500 dollars (the Kindle with Wi-Fi only is just $139) or the iPad with 3G+Wi-Fi for $630 (the Kindle 3 (which has free 3G+Wi-Fi) is only $189).

-The Kindle 3 doesn't get hot in your hands whereas the iPad does.

-You can read Kindle 3 in direct sunlight whereas you can barely read the iPad in room light.

-The iPad messes up your circadian rhythm (your sleep patterns) if you read at night whereas the Kindle 3 doesn't.

-With the Kindle app store coming out soon, it'll have apps just like the iPad.

-The iPad's hardware doesn't last as long whereas the Kindle 3 isn't going to break any time soon.

-You have to pay ton of money to use the iPad's 3G browser, but the Kindle's 3G is absolutely free!

-The Kindle book store has 630,000+ books and 1.8 million+ public domain (free) books that you can download directly to your Kindle in under 60 seconds!

-The Kindle Wi-Fi is only 8.5 ounces and the Kindle 3 (3G+Wi-Fi) is only 8.7 ounces (240.97 grams) whereas the iPad is 1.5 lbs (680 grams). This means that you can read on Kindle with one hand whereas the iPad makes your hands sore even if you're holding it with two hands.

-The Kindle 3 has the new eInk Pearl screen, which looks and reads like actual paper, whereas the iPad has a glare-welcoming, smudge-catching, fragile LCD screen.

I STRONGLY suggest you get the Kindle 3. You will be very disappointed with the iPad as an eReader.
