I am possibly aspie, having scores well in the aspie ranges, but I dont have the issues that even high functioning aspies seem to have. So just out of curiousity how many friends would the avarage aspie have. I have three close friends and have a circle of about 4 others who i have known for a while.

I have two close friends and I'm formally diagnosed. I'm also 21 though and didn't meet either of them till I was 19. I had no close friends growing up.

I used to have more, but now I have maybe 3 that I truly consider my close friends. 2 don't even live in the same country I live. The one who lives in the same country, I do talk to often on Facebook, but see her less than 1 every two months...PS I say she is a close friend because she also has no friends...she doesn't talk to anyone else as she's busy, etc...might be on the spectrum too :-)

I don't have any autistic friends, and the only people I can call "friends" are just those of convenience. For example, people who I often spend time with at college or work. When I change job, or go on to university, I will never see them again, and drift apart. There is no one who has ever stayed consistent through life. Those rare ones who have has only been because they are benefiting from being friends with me. If that benefit runs out or becomes irrelevant, they stop contacting me.

This doesn't apply to just me, it seems to be a common NT thing which most people aren't aware of. The idea of friendship is just a glorified idea of two people benefiting off each other over an extended period of time. If that benefit ends for one or both sides of the party, the friendship ceases to exist or becomes heated.

I have a number of friends, but none that I would call close.

Well, I have my family and my boyfriend. Other than that, I don't have any friends and I'm 20.

I have a lot of friends who I consider close, maybe 8 or 13 people. We were all at a charter high school with about 140 kids and I was freinds with about 2/3 of the school but I was only really close to these groups of people. Sadly, Our school got shut down in March, and I haven't really seen them since...

I only have a couple close friends, no more than five or so. One of them is an Aspie, and we get along quite well.

close? currently id say 0. like if we stopped having classes together (or when i graduate this spring) we're probably never gona talk again

im the temporary add-on to a group of 7 or so sophomores that have all known each other since elementary school. i think they think im either cool or acceptably weird, but i dont relate super well.

i should probably be trying to make friends in my welding classes, or actually keeping up the friendships i had before, but its so hard anymore. i just dont get things so thats probably why ive got nobody

Uh, does my dog count?

Seriously, though, if I exclude people I know on the internet then I've not had any "close friends" since I was fourteen or so. I didn't do anything to change that for a very long time and was content with my loner status. I've been trying to put myself out there more recently, but I still find myself hitting a wall after very familiar acquaintance is reached.

three, two, one, i don't know. (definitely one of i exclude those i talk to on the web only but, who am i to do that? web? so?)

all i know i that my GF is one and i talk to a few other people.

i really have no clue what people mean by "close" most of the time, i avoid affixing those labels.
