I smoke cigars and a pipe. I started in December 2005. I was 17 then and, get this, I asked my parent's permission to do it! I figured I'd rather ask them since I was going to do it anyway. My dad also bought me my first pipe. My parents were fine with it as long as I didn't smoke cigarettes (which are disgusting).

I saw first hand the effects of years of smoking, as my Grandfather died painfully and grotesquely from the cancer that resulted from it.

That alone is reason enough for me never to start.

I don't and I have three good reasons why: my mom, my dad, and my grandfather. Personally, if someone tried to get me to smoke, I would get in their face. Plus, if I see a cigarette or a cigarette box on the ground, I would smash it.

I can relate to that: I too am a pipe-smoker, and when I happen to run out of my favorite pipe tobacco (a brand that isn't available in every single convenience store), I resort to some run-of-the-mill cigarette brand. Ciggies are merely nicotine "fixes"; they have a yucky taste compared to the mild-like-a-spring-day virginia-based tobacco I usually smoke...!

Ah, my usual is a golden cavendish blend that has been soaked in champaign for two weeks. It's from a store in Champaign, Illinois. Best stuff ever! I don't need it for a nicotine fix though (the last time I smoked anything was on Friday).

No. Never. Never will.
I just hate everything about smoking. I hope it gets wiped out in a few years. It scares me sometimes when my dad says 'just popping out for a ciggarette' like it's nothing.

I have smoked for about 7 or 8 years and come from a family of people who either are smokers or have been at some point in their lives. It (smoking) punctuates my day and helps regulates my mood. Saying that though, I do want to give up soon, over the summer for the obvious health reasons (I lost my grandmother last year and my grandfather several years ago to lung cancer) and also as it is just too expensive a habit to indulge in.
