And do you like it?

I have one, but I really don't like having them full-stop. They're nice people, but it's hard to be a "closeted" Autie with a TA.

I do but only in Maths. I dont really mind that much.

I used to go to the SEN room for some lessons, too, but I got too smart for that. :D

Our SEN room at school rocks. I don't go for any lessons, but I go there at lunch.

I used to do that, I just went on the computers and browse forums etc. while having lunch. Was fun :)

I do the same. :D

I wish I only had a TA for the lessons I need them for. I mean, the sciences don't need any social interaction with people I don't know, as one of my best friends is in it. I can do french, because no one knows metaphors in french. I can do history, as all you need to do is spurt out facts. You'd think I'd need them for drama, but I don't, as I know what we're doing exactly.

It's quite awkward in lessons with a TA. Especially for the rare day's they aren't there. All the "Where is Sir"'s drive me mental, having to say "dunno" as I don't want them to ask me "why do you have him."

Yeah, I only get a TA in Maths, where I need help, now.

I was trying to hide it before but then I just gave up coz I figured people dont really like me anyway, and they forget about things quickly and move on to the next "funny" thing to make fun of, so I just stopped hiding it.

Once someone saw me in the SEN room and started laughing so I told the teacher in there and they got a letter home and a detention! :P

These days, people in my class dont have much of a problem with me because:

1) One of the popular kids in there has been my friend since primary school
2) I help them with their computers, iPods etc.
3) I told them sites they could use to bypass the school internet filters (so they can go on any site they want like Bebo etc.)

I did this year for English and Sports Science because I also have hand tremors and the tremors make it hard for me to write clearly. Not sure about next year though.

No, and I'd better not get one either.

I have a TA. He takes notes for me in class. I've had him for a 1 1/2 years. He is a really good guy and helps me keep organized. But its hard to make friends with him around.
I'm going to college next year and I won't have one.

Nope, thankfully I never needed one.

TA stands for Teacher's Assistant.

If you required assistance in a regular classroom, the school district might assign a resource room teacher to follow you from class to class to provide that assistance to you. For example, if you had trouble hearing the teacher, the TA might speak to you in sign language so that you would understand what was being said.

Oh, ok. Thank you.

Well, I guess I have a TA. There is always an aide in all my classes, and the resource/special ed teacher goes in and out of all my classes. So I guess I do. I hate both of them either way, and ignore them.
