I use enormous hyperbole when I speak out of habit, and it appears to others that I am generalizing. I need to absolve myself of this... I pose you kind people another question:
Are you easily misunderstood when you speak? Do your words not give the connotations that you intend them to? I have placed myself in many a precarious situation because of my difficulties.

I don't seem to use English the same way as people around me. Probably stands to reason as it's not my first language; I didn't speak a word of it until I was around 6 or so. This is probably made worse since my first language isn't a proficient language for me any longer.

When I need to communicate ideas succinctly, particularly in a professional setting, it's useful for me to take my time and speak slowly. If I don't let my thoughts get ahead of my mouth it minimizes the misunderstandings.
