So... I changed jobs recently. I'm no longer the "evil used car salesman"...
Now I'm the "evil collections guy" for a consumer finance company. Hence, I'm the guy who tracks down deadbeats, calls them at all hours of the day, shows up at their door, and tells them to pay or we repo their worthless pile they call a car (which they stupidly bought with said loan, because they thought cheap was a good deal).
Now, here's the funny part. The majority of the people who default on perfectly good loans that I've been having to call, and who have been treating me like crap (because they think with no checking account, and credit scores under the 400's, that they deserve the world on a silver platter) are...
bank tellers, cops, loan processors, engineers, white collar office types, and the big one... IDIOTS WHO TRY STARTING SMALL HOME BUSINESSES BECAUSE IT'S COOL. The latter is hilarious, because they'll never answer their business line because of all the collections calls.
The really creepy part is that these "respectable" types still look like trailer trash on an episode of COPS when they demand we give them more time after lying about making their payments for three months in a row. You think they'd never heard of a comb, a shower, or a laundromat.
I know this is a great career for me to start my way into becoming a branch manager in a year, and moving further up the ladder, but honestly, my job wouldn't exist if people were such lying sacks of crap. We actually ran into some customers that tried to lie about being out of the state, unable to make their rent. As soon as they realized their cars or small claims were at stake, they were in the office within the hour. Of course, none of them have checks, of course... They all pay in dirty, wrinkled up bills they've been stuffing under the mattress.
Explain to me why these morons are considered fully-capable adults?
