It's hard to accept when someone you love won't relate the way you wish they would, in fact it hurts like bloody hell (and I know this well, unfortunately), but the hard truth of the matter is that you can't make them, and even if you could somehow accomplish that, it's not the same if it's not freely given. All you can do is decide for yourself whether you're willing to accept the relationship on these terms or not. The length of a pregnancy may seem a long time, but it's really not that long. Are you willing to wait and see, or is the relationship not worth it to you? If it's worth it to you, then my advice to you is to stick it out. If you don't, you'll never know if it would have come to pass or not, and if it would have, it would be a big loss to not even have tried....that's the way I look at it anyway. If there really is love, it should still be there when she's not pregnant any more and she is able to focus on your relationship, right?
The other thing to remember is although you can't control what she does or says, you can control how you react to it. I am also very sensitive and I forget that all the time (and I'm a good bit older than you are...in my 40s). I just started seeing a counselor last week. It might be a good thing to do just to have someone to talk to other than your parents.
Good luck to you.

All that been shared here I can so relate. Thank-you Blue for being so open.
I'm grateful to for the constructive and caring advice others here are giving.
I am trained as a councilor, but have also experienced much of the pain you
describe Blue...We need you here...Listening to you, you are a valuable member
of this community...Lonliness has been one of my steady companions. It hurts, but
together we can support and hold each other up through the painful times...
Here we are united in our humaness...and accepted.
Stay with us Blue, we need you,
Anjie
I react very strongly to things other would not, and do not react to things others would.
If she's pregnant, that can cause her to be very emotional and easily upset. She really doesn't need someone else crying on her shoulder; look at it from her perspective, she's about to be a single mum. If anyone should be whining, it's her.
If you're not sure if you're whining or not but everyone else says you are, then maybe don't mention your life at all when talking to her. Find another person to talk to about your issues.
I'd leave her alone except for the occasional supportive message or phone call if you want. It'll be even tougher for her after the baby is born, so don't expect any sympathy from her.
Or, you may just not be able to, that's the thing. Intellectuallly, okay, the wait and see. But speakiing of myself, sometimes I just don't have the lower gear to shift it into. I tell myself, light touch . . . light touch. And that's a lot easier said than done.
Oh, I know from experience that it's a lot easier said than done. Whether one can tolerate the mental contortions involved (which I am quite aware can be agonizing) is an individual thing, and a decision the individual has to make. The point was that it is a decision in the OP's power to make, unlike whether his GF wants to continue the relationship at its previous level at this time.

I know how hard this is (again from experience
) but try not to interpret things that aren't necessarily signs of losing her that way. You can drive yourself crazy that way, and chances are that many of the things you're seeing that way are not actually so. We (aspies) sometimes aren't the best at "reading" those things and if you're like me you probably unnecessarily torture yourself with taking everything in the worst possible way. As I've gotten older, especially in the last 10 years, I have tried not to put that kind of negative interpretation on everything and have so far only partially succeeded. I'm especially likely to do that when I'm very tired or sick or already stressed over something else, and you may have other things that make it more likely. And you're right, there's nothing you really need to say except normal things, and being a friend to her when her stress level is probably high.
As far as obsessing, it is possible to turn your obsessions to something, if not positive, at least neutral. When I get to obsessing about something negative, sometimes I will even start doing something as repetitive and rote as conjugating one Romanian verb after another in one tense after another in my head (I recently learned the Romanian language) or silently reciting a poem or something else I memorized in high school just to fill my brain with something else. Sometimes that's enough to let me get to sleep.

Hey, I understand that. But, unless she said she didn't want to talk to you at all until after the pregnancy, asking how she's doing and talking about other things isn't a bad thing.
I guess it is just the way I talk...
When I think of something, many pictures come to mind immediately, seemingly random, but all relative.
This is torture... I connect things in such a way that is often disturbing, I see flaws and hook on them, alternate perspectives that any others might think is one that pops up a lot in my head... I am often wrong about what people intend to do or are thinking or feeling, I always worry about them misunderstanding me, I get very upset when people misunderstand me, I literally can get dangerous if I'm in the wrong situation with people and get I overwhelmed, I become a complete monster.
Unfortunately I don't have good advice about how to control meltdowns. I wouldn't recommend the way I did it to anyone else. Although it worked, I think it harmed me in other ways.
My parents think I have sympathy pains from my GF being pregnant...
I thought it was the pills I was going off of, but that was too long ago now, and it was like 5 weeks ago and I only took the damn pills for a week, and I've been on these very same pills before for a long time last year and the year before, and they didn't do this before.
My Mom even thought maybe I got AIDS from my ex or something, geez... it could be anything.
Although it could certainly be stress-related, and likely is, I'd get checked for medical problems as well if I were you.
I am perfectly happy talking to her... and suddenly she is mad at me for seemingly no reason... I then try to ask... she tries to make me guess, tells me I already know what I did wrong... and then she eventually tells me, and it just completely throws me off... it makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE to me the things she gets mad at me about. I would never get mad about the same things at her.
I still feel inside that this is not just the pregnancy causing her to lash out at me...
It is obviously my fault when she lashes out at me, even if she is in pain, puking every hour, so dizzy she can't sit in a chair, and her insides feel like they are ripping apart, she is still lashing out at me because of me...
Read what you just wrote. She's feeling poorly physically. She's got an unplanned pregnancy from an ex she's not with any more and she doesn't plan to keep the baby after it's born. That's enough to make anyone irritable. It's not good that she's lashing out at you, and I'm not defending it. In fact, I think it's inappropriate. I'm just saying that when an objective observer (someone not in the middle of the situation) evaluates it, the *simplest* explanation is that she is overly irritable because of physical and mental overload and perceives you as one more thing to deal with right now, not that you're doing anything wrong or that there's something wrong with you or *even* that she can't deal with you long term. Some women have nausea and vomiting (hyperemesis gravidarum) throughout the pregnancy, and her doc may have made her aware of that...could be why she wants to put things on hold until the end of the pregnancy.
I was watching the Temple Grandin movie for the 3rd time last night with my parents, Temple Grandin seemed like the only real human in this movie to me, everyone else was just... okay, to be honest, everyone else made me feel sick to my stomach... I hate... the NT oppression on me....
So yeah, I dunno what I'm gonna do, there is literally nothing to do, and nothing I can do, but sit around, think, and maybe draw and listen to music, I feel numb emotionally kinda for some reason lately a bit, like I've taken too many beatings and I'm adapting to it, still sucks though... so what will I do... sit around.... think too much.... about things that will only lead me in circles and downward.... Ima screwed............ I'm so tired of this... I don't know what I can do to make myself not appear negative like this to people, it's not only a huge effort that I have endlessly put work into, but it is like chasing the sun on foot to me........ and I FREAKING hate looking all emo like this complaining in such a way that people think I am after pity... I have no idea why I say what I say, I just do, and it's usually just to talk, I'm not trying to get some kind of emotion outta you, I'd much rather see you smiling constantly, I don't wanna make people sorry for me, wtf?!?! It makes me so mad... my own body and mind betrays me so much it is like it is not my own, and never was my own. I'm just trying to be with her so to speak when talking to her, it feels like she is there next to me when she says something to me, but she rarely says anything anymore!
I only want her to be happy, and all I can do is disturb her...
Well, a lot of the time I also feel like the majority of the world is insane...so you aren't alone
