I'm not sure that Tim left, the last post he made was almost a day after he opened this thread.
There is also this. Maybe he's making an experiment because he's curious how long it would take for people to to find out?
And he;s not even gone. his last log in was today at 12:08 PM est.
I noticed that too. He's checking the thread for data.

Some people seem to post good-bye messages just to see how many other people will beg them to come back - sorta like how some people seem to threaten suicide over and over again just to hear other people beg them not to do it. I hope that's not the case here.

But if he really is gone for good, then maybe this thread is better off closed ... ?

Nice way to try and make sure he doesn't come back.

This thread really has no purpose anymore. If Tim wants to leave, that's up to him. I agree this thread now has run its course and deserves a lock.

Im sorry you feel that way but at the same time I understand. I have the same kind of problems here. I have similar thoughts as you so I have been wondering if I should stay here too.

I don't think anyone here thinks that religion and conservatism in their purest forms are inherently negative things. Most of it is knee-jerk responses to bad experiences they've had in the past with those groups. A lot of religious people and conservatives are intolerant. Not all, but many. This is what they're reacting to. I know this because I'm the same way; when I think of Christians or hardcore conservatives, I think of homophobia and racism and sexism. It's not rational, which is why I don't express those feelings to the general public, but it's just kind of how it is.

For the most part, however, since we are a moderately civil bunch, you won't see public attacks on them or anything. Just things like hyperlexian detailed, people not interested in dating religious or conservative folk. That's about it, at least from what I've seen.

I'm pissed of myself, being a Muslim, being looked down upon. Some atheists on wp have been extremely arrogant and cynical towards me, but in the end if that's how they want to be, then all I can do is try to prove my religion isn't as they think it is. I hope you don't leave. If someone bullies you call a moderator. I'm not going to lie I've been kind of harsh on the ppr section, but I can't help it when my religion is made fun of. The moderator himself hates my religion and calls it a disease. Luckily on wp it's against the rules to insult Christians or Muslim, it's allowed to insult the religion but not the followers. If people actually insult Christian's then you can report it and get them in trouble. But please don't leave. Please stay, don't make me sad

Not taking ANY side whatsoever in this, just saying that this is what I've learned in my life: If you want people to like you, keep your religious and political beliefs to yourself.

I have not personally encountered any prejudice or disrespect on WP and would appeal to all to please allow for diversity of opinion here and respect one another, because I believe all autism/AS-friendly people should be allowed to express themselves here. We should be much better at tolerating other viewpoints while keeping a respectful tone, which is not the case on most NT sites, especially political anjd religious ones.

Please guys and girls - even when we don't agree with someone lets keep it respectful because it would be a boring world if everyone felt exactly the same way about everything!

I never formally left the forum and still post here every once in a blue moon, but like the OP I've also noticed the growing undercurrent of narcissism and cliqueishness that pervades. It started a long time ago and seems to only get worse as more time passes. It's so funny to me because a lot of people here like to complain about how closed-minded and bullying those eeevil NTs are when they're totally blind to themselves acting just as badly if not worse.

I wouldnt agree with that. Personally I am atheist. But that doesnt mean for me, that I have to oppose people believing in a God. I dont care for it, so why should they hide their beliefs from me? Also there is much about christianity and other religions, that is a good thing. So I totally agree with the parts of trying to help each other, charity, ... not because its the will of a god, but because its a good thing for all people involved, making everyone happier in the end. :)

That doesnt mean I cant crush with someone on a specific topic, for example: World population and pregnancy prevention and so on. If someone uses his religion to prevent himself from thinking, the opposite of what Jesus wanted people to do, its really hard for me to discuss with such oppinions. Discussions should be abut advantage and disadvantages, oppinions, .... and not about plunging the fingers in the ears and repeating endlessly something, they never thought about. I have no problem with someother oppinions, but I dont discuss with blind parrots. But only few of the religious people I know, act in this fanatic way.

So as an atheist, for me its not important if you are religious or not, but if you are an social and unsocial person. If you are an social atheist person I respect you and if you are an social believing person I respect you. And if it seems to me that you are an unsocial person, I will not. So I know lots of christian people I really respect and also when I was a scout we did lots of stuff together with the church. I also do believe, that there was a reformer called Jesus, who told the people lots of new ideas. I do not believe in that godson stuff and so on, but I dont need someone to be a godson to appreciate the thoughts and ideas he had. Ghandi and Mother Theresa also have been noones god children, still most people in the world can appreciate, that these were person that really believed that we as humanity can change to better if we decide to. Instead of preachings these people gave us their lifes as examples, that their believes are not theory, but something that everyone can do if we decide to. :)

So if there are radical atheists, blaming everyone for having a religion instead of asking what kind of religion you believe in: They are nothing more then fanatics and you shouldnt let them bother you more then some muslim terrorists telling you that you are worthless scum standing ín the way of Dschihad or some christian fanatics, blaming a 12 year old girl for getting raped by her father and allowing the doctors to stop her pregnancy in her shock. They just use their believes (including atheist believe) as an excuse, to persuade themself that they must not feel guilty to treat other people out of fun and prejudices.

So from my atheist oppinion: I dont care what Abraham, David or the Pope would do. But to think about what the human person Jesus would have done, is nothing bad to think about and nothing to be ashamed of. :) Instead of a prophet he is more of a social reformer for me. :) I also have no problems with Christians that think about what the godson Jesus would have done. I only cant stand the one, that try to convince you of their believe of understanding, peace and brothership, with violence, anger and stubborny. But that goes with atheists the same.

Attempting to kill other's belief in God is both foolish & futile.
