this week our living room & kitchen is being decorated by my husband and a friend of his
me and my husband both took the week off for holiday days

i wanted to help but the place being turned upside down with stuff everywhere in piles and all my stuff rearranged i went into meltdown mode

in the end my husband had to send me off to his other friends house to get me out the way and to calm down, luckily his friend is a close friend and understands me and didnt mind me there

i dont mean to have meltdowns its because of my autism i cant cope with change even if i know beforehand i still cant handle it

have anyone else had to be packed off somewhere else when having meltdowns?

I am not sure what you mean by "packed off" but I often go somewhere quiet where nobody is present.

packed off means sent or made to go to a different house

No, simply because I am 14 and cannot be left alone in a random house. Also, I do a good job of hiding most meltdowns (or at least I think I do).

I've removed myself from the immediate area to gain control of myself. Being single, I had no help to direct or deal with me so decided to walked into a store and bought a coke. This allowed me time to breath and to process before dealing with the aftermath, the policeman. It helped me.

In America, redecorating the room is rearranging the furniture, new curtains, new pictures, and maybe repainting. When I helped a friend in the UK, redecorating was re-papering the walls which we consider remodeling and is more traumatic. Either way it is stressful, even for NTs.

Next time, maybe arrange to be away until it's finished. You would still have to deal with the changed room and relinquishing some decision processing.

I seem to be alright at handling most of mine and I just go to a quiet place and sit down. It'd look like I'm having a prolonged absent seizure as I withdraw internally. If it's externally orientated, I'll hit myself, but I'll still move to solitude all the same.

I don't like people seeing me, as I guess I feel like a bother.

Yep....know what you mean!

I don't like my house being taken apart, either!
