Her last weeks of life were spent having a distorted perception of WP, and the people on it that she had friendships with.

Plus, Michael (CrimsonKing) posted here. That was her only true boyfriend, and the one man who gave her true, genuine happiness. This thread has every right to be up.

This thread is not going to be used for discussing disagreements and anger between members of the online AS community.

I hope we can agree that this is not the place for that kind of thing, out of respect for her if nothing else.

She didnt want to be remebered here. This whole thread should be removed and any others containing details about her.

And how will those who truly cared for her be able to express their feelings publicly?
Mortuis nil nisi bonum, and leave the rest out of it.

Im happy for those who cared about her to express their feelings publicly. But I know for a fact that this is what she wanted - not to be talked about here. So maybe people could find another means. I'm not ashamed of myself I am proud of myself for sticking up for starbuline.

Then WHAT IS the thread to discuss what happened to her??

Click here for more information. It's a journal entry from someone who went to school with Sophie.

If she knew how much she would be missed, how could she object to such an outpouring. I myself am shaken at the news, as I was by KingCrimson's untimely end. You do not know how much I am affected by this.

I say, let this thread live, as long it speaks naught but good of Starbuline.

Where were the warning signs that indicated this might happen?

I just had a look at her blog, and this clearly indicated that there was a problem.

Let's keep this thread a respectful and loving tribute to the good things we knew of her, please. :( This is not the time or place for people who did not know her to analyze what may or may not have happened.

I agree about keeping this thread a loving and respectful tribute but being about to spot the warning signs might enable us to prevent another tragedy from happening. I know this paticular thread is not the place to discuss this particular subject matter so this is all I will say in this regard.

That fact that it exists is a misrepresentation of her wishes. I am sure starbuline knew it would be like this. She did make many friends, here at one time in her life.

I agree about keeping the thread a loving and positive tribute: But respectfully if we are able to analyze what led up to this we might just might be able to intervene if something like this comes up in the future before someone feels too overwhelmed about finding a solution.

I understand wanting to help, and the curiosity that many people feel regarding any situation like this, and about Sophie herself.

Yet it would be arrogant for anyone to assume that he or she could pinpoint the "cause" of someone's choice to die. If we're honest with ourselves, most of us already know how we ought to be treating others. We should all be "walking our talk." We also need to accept the fact that, ultimately, we are not in control of other people's decisions. Sophie was not alone--she had friends who very much loved her, listened to her, and tried their best to be there for her. They did not fail her in any way.

As for Starbuline's wishes... Ben, we can't control how our survivors choose to mourn us.

Yes I think you are right now gwen... Im sorry. Starbuline wouldnt have wanted her family to feel grief and kingcrimson wouldnt have wanted Starbuline to hurt either. I see now that this cant be helped. I would ask that people be as respectful and truthful as possible in their representations of her though. In particular I refer to the mods and regulars here, their voices sound so much more strongly than others and they need to be concious of this.

I understand. As I said, Mortuis nil nisi bonum (speak nothing but good of the dead), and I do not feel Starbuline deserved the end she did, or indeed any end at such a young age. I cannot honestly say that it has affected me deeply. That would be a lie and a discourtesy to Starbuline. However, I will say that I was shaken and shocked by the news, and it has made me ponder a lot of things. And that is truth.

The members of WP need a place to grieve for Starbuline. I have been thinking about her all day. We all share the despair of the loss of a young life and the fact that her pain was so great that she decided to end it.

Oh, this is dreadful news! She was so young and seemed so full of life when she posted here. I know she had bad times but I hoped things would get easier for her as she got older...so, so sad. Goodbye Sophie.

I hope you are at peace now. God bless.

I don't know what else to say except that I'm thinking of her friends here, her family, people who knew her better than I did.

We should be kind to each other here, we really should.

Although I never really befriended Starbuline, I saw that (by her posts) she was a lovely girl, with so much ahead of her, all that is now gone forever (tries not to cry)

My thoughts go to all her friends, especially Sopho, I know how the two of them really got on

As I said in my first post, it really saddens me when a fellow aspie passes away

You know . . . I would've made Sophie a noble in my Aspergian Empire without a second's hesitation.

Guess I'll have to erect a temple or shrine in her honor instead someday.
