okay, i finally had time to post this.

there was this one kid at school who had been acting weird lately. the other day, at school, he was bragging about how he had crack. the kids didn't beleive him. so he pulled out the narcodics, one of the kids emidiattally ran up to Ms. Troester (resident teacher) so she took the kid to the principal, by now, by the way, he's hidden hi drugs. when talking to the principal, he admitted to doing narcodics, but he wouldn't say where he had it. so they called in the cops. they put the whole school under hard lockdown, and searched all of the misbehavors for more drugs. they brought in a k-9 officer, the big shebam... everybody sat in their classrooms and watched finding nemo for the rest of the school day.
guess where i am? HOME. i was home sick with the cold, and i think i'm the most effected! everybody else thought it was cool, not me.
this kid is expelled, being sent to rehab, and rumors that he'll be a soon to be resident of juvi hall.
sorry, i'm just still a little shaken, and needed to tell another person that didn't know...

It's good that you let it out. Wow, I'd be shaken as well. Hearing people brag about pot IRL can get me uneasy. >.> Atleast people got to watch Finding Nemo. :?

At least 'twas was cocaine and not a gun... like what happened at MY school monday before last. It's quite a funny story actually. I'm on the bus to school, and i'm disturbed by the lack of students on the bus. We pull up on campus and the five-o are swarming the place. So i turn to my friend and say:

Me: "Why are there so many cops here?"
Friend: "Oh, some kid said he was going to bring a gun to school today."
Me: "Oh, that's great. Why am I the last to know?"
Friend: "Uh, I dunno. Did you check MySpace?"
Me: "F*** no, I'm a f***ing Gaian*!"

Enter mass panic, stage right.

Every year, someone calls in a bomb threat into my school at least once.
I've spent many a day in the football stadium, freezing and wet, stuck between two people in my homeroom...

There was a kid on school grounds with a gun earlier this year. He wasn't in the building though...he was sleeping in a shed out near the football field. We had like 5 lockdowns that day until he was finally arrested. I actually thought it was kind of exciting

No real harm done at least.

That's the difference between high school in college.

Where I am everyone drinks, nobody ever gets busted if they are underage. The frats sometimes even advertise the parties out in the open in the food halls. Most of the students (I'm guessing 90%) do pot. Ecstasy is very popular among the frats. And the school ignores it and does nothing about it. Although one of the frats actually recently had their charter suspended when they were busted for a cocaine binge party. Guns are even allowed as long as you don't or store them in the dorm (that might be a Texas thing, not a college thing). What's really funny was the college advertised itself as a real straightedge school and it seemed believeable on the campus visit.

F***, I'd be as nervous as hell. I can imagine that out tendency to have sleepy-looking eyes and odd behaviour makes us culprits, and with the level of policing these days and them arresting ANYONE suspiscious, it makes me glad I live in NZ where this stuff almost never happens (but it does sometimes).

True. And the 'deer in the headlights' look wouldn't exactly help either.

My school gets sniffer dogs every month or two. One guy got put on the alert, but it turns out it was a combination of a rookie dog and a tasty ham sandwich!

If my school was put on lockdown (and the exterior actually resembles a tall prison, it's made of concrete) I'd feel the urge to just ditch it and go home (and tell you guys about it on WP of course!)

I dunno that crack would bother me so much. But the lockdown part would be traumatic. I guess they have to do it, incase the little sh*thead eats all the crack to not get caught since that would probably kill him. There were TONS of drugs at the highschool I went to (this was in NY) - and this was about 15 years ago, so drugs don't really bother me too much.

I don't ever remember anyone bringing a gun. Knives, yes. One kid once pulled out a knife to show it off to me, and I said, "Put that f***ing thing away before you hurt yourself." So he put it away. I didn't think to tell anyone. And it didn't bother me so much, because if he got into an altercation with it, he'd have just hurt the people in the fight. Guns would be more upsetting, since bullets fly pretty far so there is more of a chance of innocent bystanders getting hit. I'd probably turn someone like that in, just because I am fairly self-serving.

But yeah, I'd have been traumatized by the lockdown too. Also, one thing about police dogs is that they bark their f***ing brains out. So for us, with our sensitivities, that can heighten the trauma of a stressful experience. I know a couple of years ago, there was a house on the market in our neighborhood, and the cops showed up to someone breaking into it. Mind you, this is a really exclusive neighborhood, so the police response time is pretty instantaneous, and, on the whole, the neighborhood is extremely quiet. I woke up because I thought my husband had let the dogs out in the middle of the night and they were barking. Well, our dogs were inside and the police dogs were barking. They brought in cops, K-9, fire, medics, etc. because the person who got caught was high and threatening suicide. So they were there ALL DAMNED NIGHT!! ! Surprisingly, the only people who were awoken by this were me (and my husband because I woke up) and my next door neighbor that I know is a really light sleeper as well. The noise was A LOT more traumatizing than the fact that it happenned.

Would someone please tell this ignorant Brit what a 'lockdown' is?
