A year ago, I got a prescription for Prozac, filled the prescription, never took it.
Yesterday, VERY bad day, I took one, didn’t call my doctor, just took one.
I want to not take any more; no bad reaction, just don’t want to be ‘on’ a medication I haven’t been prescribed for now.
Any advice?
Please? It is 6 P.M. here, too late to call my doctor.

I have heard the name but I do not know what it is for.

I do not think it would harm you as if it was harmful they would not give them to people and you have only had one.

Uhmmm. Pro stands for professional. Zac?

Hopefully someone will know more about them.

Tablets I am supposed to take are one a day but I often forget. I forgot today and took one the morning the day before. They stop too much acid as it closds my throat up etc. Begins with the letter L.

Anyway. Don't panic. All will be fine.

Just a thought. Do you take any other medication? If not, then you should be fine. (My theory).

I don't think you have anything to worry about, but I'm not a doctor either. It sounds like you need to take antidepressants for more than 4 weeks before withdrawal symptoms may kick from suddenly going off them.

Thank you so much;
I am not on meds, I’m actually afraid of meds/chemicals.
I don’t drink, nor drink coffee; caffeine.
Thank you so much for your response; I am very nervous about this.

Is a good idea to drink something like water etc. I often forget to drink and I can get pains in my kidneys. Other times when nurvous I drink too much water or cococola etc. Cant have drinks with artificial sweetners in them, hence why cococola or pepsi. Other fizzy drinks all have sweetners.

If you're still concerned, you can call the pharmacy that filled it and ask to speak to a pharmacist. They should be able to clear any doubt.

I found out the hard way about antidepressants. My GP, at the time, had me on Prozac while I was still working at the Pentagon as a contractor employee. Everyone and their brother was calling Prozac the “happy pill.” It didn’t take long for me to become vicious as a cornered raccoon. I nearly tore apart a full bird colonel while on this stuff, let alone my supervisor (who needed to be torn a new rear end, ESPECIALLY SINCE SHE DIDN’T KNOW HER A$$ FROM A HOLE IN THE GROUND!. She proved it several times by assigning tasks that were doomed to be failure, as well as usurping the research I was doing on document management systems at the time. She was the ultimate example of a micromanager, not only with me, but with all the remaining staff on the information architecture team. My parting words to her when I was let go was the closer to Bob and Ray’s comedy act: “Write if you get work, and hang by your thumbs.”

Anyhow, that experience with Prozac led to even more problems with antidepressants and antipsychotics, which ended up with me going on disability, after being diagnosed with Bipolar I, Geretalized Anxiety (later to be rediagnosed as PTSD), Severe depression with seasonal affective disorder, and Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 1 (formerly Asperger’s disorder). Further, it ended up with me having no contact with my brothers, who consider me to be a lazy, no-good-for-nothing, fata$$ed motherf!cker who deserves to die and be forgotten. I was even told I was responsible foraccused of killing mom by my reactions (In actuality, mom died due to complication from a bleeding peptic ulcer. She nearly bled out on me, and spent 6 months in intensive care and a nursing home before she died.)

The only meds I take now are for my type II diabetes and hypertension, as well as supplements to control my cholesterol, hypertension, “brain health,” and reduce tinnitus.

Don´t worry, it takes time for the body to get dependent on a drug like that, so if you only took it once and you have no bad effects day after or the day you took it, just don´t take it anymore.
If you had build up a addiction you have to wean it off carefully, but that´s another story.

You will be ok, you haven’t gotten enough built up for you to have a reaction. It takes several weeks for them to even start working.
I’ve been on Lexapro for years.
Some people have good luck with standardized Saint Johnswort if you want to try a natural anti-depressant.

Hi sorry just saw your post. I took Prozac for many years. Prozac has an accumulative effect and takes approx six weeks to fully kick in. One pill will not effect you adversely unless you have a specific allergy to it which is unlikely if not impossible. I found Prozac very useful for many years depression and anxiety which was CPTSD based. I actually went "cold turkey" and stopped suddenly with no adverse effects. I tried Effexor which gave me hallucinations so I stopped taking that also.I now take a natural plant based pill called Calmanervin which is safe, calming, non-addictive and very effective, that contains extract of Passion Fruit. They may not have it in your country. Be well!

Thank y’all so VERY much; I’m basically afraid of meds, and can’t believe I actually took one of those pills!
Ten years ago I was on it, had no problems, it was a lifesaver!
I was going through anxiety/depression/anxiety and looking back, nothing but medication could have stabilized me.
But that was then; I should not have taken it.
Thank y’all so very much!
