Okaaay, this thread has gone a bit askew.

But then yeah, normal human sex drive has a lot to do with why people don't want to be alone.

Even if we didn't have such a thing I think we would still want a close companion for support and to support. To share the good times and the bad.

Made an effort to dress up and go out this weekend. There were 3 single women and no single men and everyone else were couples.

And where did you go out to? Maybe that seemingly mythical place someone on these forums called Out There? I have a feeling that, for each single woman who goes to that place, there's a single man who would really like to meet her, but doesn't know the way to Out There, probably because it's particularly hard to find if you're alone and friendless. Of course, this may be enough reason for the woman not to want anything to do with him, so maybe Out There is dutifully serving its purpose after all.

Lol I think all singles have been told they need to visit he mythical place of "out there".

It was a party of a friend of a friend. Normally I'd say no, I hate large groups of people.

I make my own "out there."

It helps that I'm "out there" myself.

Strange the single meet ups here always have just a bunch of single men go. So I don't bother going

Well, it wasn't a singles meetup, it was a party with lots of different people invited.

But whenever I go to parties there are no single men over the age of 24.

Who hosted the party was it a couple? I've noticed couples usually only have coupled friends.

I don't go to parties not that I've been invited to any that much . Ideal of being the only single guy there and only knowing one person there scares me away. I have one sort of friend who invites me to holidays but don't go because the above

I'm 34, so most of my friends are couples, so yeah, the parties are mostly couples and a handful of single women who are still friends with these couples.

I dunno where the single men are at or why they didn't stay friends with the couples, or maybe they don't come to these parties because they feel the way you do.

I've noticed the single males I used to know don't want British women and there has been a spate of them marrying American women. The American women come over here on holiday and steal our men lol. I'm saying that kinda jokey. But it does keep happening.

That's a ridiculous thing for your friend to say. I never had a relationship or a date without actively looking and actively engaging with them.

that's not what that line actually means. it means that you're likely to meet someone with common ground when you least expect it doing activities you are passionately invested in. so, if you love doing a specific activity, and join a group to do it amongst others(obviously, it may be harder to find groups that appeal to both sexes with some interests than others), you are more likely to show your true self through being in your comfort zone in being distracted enough by the enjoyment of the activity to relax and get to know people with similar interests while providing a sincere and natural presentation of yourself... and in such, possibly meet someone were romantic interest is sincere and mutual. if you don't meet anyone, the idea is that you're still enjoying yourself... though the nature of any group activity is people come and go, so even if there is no one there of such interest to begin with, in time someone of intrigue may eventually join. mind, many people do such things around others intuitively in joining others to share in subjects they enjoy(if not in a group, maybe even their job if that's something they're actually passionate about), so they're likely to perceive their experiences in having met someone in such a way as having done so while not looking(mind, that is not necessarily to say that they were looking.)... even though, to the literal mind, it could be interpreted that if you were to take to doing so with such an understanding of the experience, that you'd be looking. scrapping such technicalities, going somewhere to do an activity you greatly enjoy in your free time merely for the sake of self gratification in doing so is actually a decent place to place yourself to potentially meet someone unexpectedly great even if you wish to look avidly in other avenues... however, if you were just to go to an activity you had little to no interest in to meet single people of the desired sex, your emotionally uninvested reasoning for pursuing the specific activity and any anxieties not tangled dormant through focusing on an activity of great interest will more than likely present themselves out of place.

it doesn't mean to write off keeping an eye open for potentially meeting someone, nor to forgo initiative to show interest if you notice someone you may like, in hopes that in time a burglar will break into your home when you least expect it, and that you'll both fall madly in love at first sight. it just means you probably aren't going to meet many potential matches in forcing yourself out to an uninteresting place full of people with little to nothing in common beyond being human that are doing nothing more than standing about exceptionally uncomfortable knowing everyone's sizing each other up and beating the heck out around a bush while decked out in fake personas of social armor in talking about the most banal of banal in small talk pleasantries that safely go nowhere.
