I wonder why so many online forums on the Web have stagnated?
I'v heard it blamed on social media, but a lot of people here (including me) aren't big fans of it and like forums more, so why would fellow aspies then abandon WP for social media?

I don't get why WP is slowing down. This is one of 3 hang out places I've had. Two of the others are closed down (and very much missed), and although one of them had a spin off site, it is practically dead these days, and the few who are left are on Discord instead. Chatting just isn't the same to me. I like threads with actual topics, it's really the only way I can have anything to say, or I'll just draw blanks. I've been on Discord once, after hi how are you and long time, there wasn't much more to say...

I always thought forums were made for people like us, so where are we? Why are so few of us left? I don't get it.

A bunch found relationships and moved on, once they find a relationship and good job they don’t come here anymore. If I had a gf I’d probably it come here either or very little. Others gave up and left.
There are people here who post despite being in relationships and/or having jobs though. I have no idea how they manage it all....

Looks like I'll stick around here forever, although I'm not really very popular here.

I stay away from the PPR forum. I'm not politically correct enough to go on there without accidentally being called racist. I stick around GAD, Random, the Haven, Social skills, and Members only. But WP has become less active, so when there's nothing new to read or write on WP, the internet's practically boring. Nothing much happens on Facebook these days, and I only go on YouTube if I'm at home.

More popular then me, most want me to leave.
I’ve tried gad few times but the amount of posts overwhelms me. How do you manage?
I use to watch a lot of YouTube but it’s been slowing down too.

No, most people don't want you to leave.

No, we don't. We need fox lovers here!

Also, AA, glad you're still around. It's good to see one of the oldest members here still posting!

I wonder how many members were disillusioned by the server issues that plagued the site for ages until quite recently, not to mention the long-running Cloudflare/Captcha business that still manifests itself at times, and gave up as a result.

That could be part of it...

Let's hope Ferris will return when he has recovered!

I tried.

WP has been my social outlet for almost 5 years.
Don't know who I'm going to talk rubbish to now.

I motion to create a "Raleigh needs to talk rubbish" thread. Do I have a second?

Negatory.

This planet contains enough Raleigh rubbish, think of the global warming.
You got that wrong, your rubbish counteracts global warming. Please do your share for the climate! :D

And since my last visit here, this thread had gotten 6 more pages. That's like the WP I used to know!

Hey thanks guys.

I won't leave. I can see me still posting here when I'm 85, if I live that long.

I've been a member here for 9 years, and I still have new things to say. If I run into a difficult situation in my daily life I sometimes like to share it here. I like it when other people do too, especially if they're posting about a social faux pas they are worried about or something. I do read more threads than I post in, but if the thread is about a complicated situation*, I don't leave a reply because I don't always know what to put or can't think of any advice.

*For example, an OP be like "my sister-in-law is coming to my cousin's half-brother's next month and I am still living in my mother-in-law's apartment because I'm still homeless but I get my diagnosis next week so that might help, I saw my shrink yesterday and told him that my cousin's boyfriend is moving to Canada to live so should I go or should I stay in Colorado and see my sister-in-law?" I get confused with those sorts of posts. I prefer more simple posts like "I was walking along the street today and someone laughed at me". I can empathise more with more mundane things, probably because I live a mundane life. I find mundane things interesting and easy to talk about.

That was the point, even if I am not one of the "guys" you are referring to.

Do you remember your post about emotions fluctuating over days. Sorry I don't express this well. But you said something like you go from depressed to feeling up, to feeling down, to this and that and that each goes over a period of days or weeks. And I said I do that everyday.
And I really do. Each day is a real challenge for me. What I mostly try to remember is that these moods/feelings/whatever they are do change and I just have to hold my breath while I am under water and I do come up eventually.

Being a moderator on this forum is a tough job. One must constantly deal with trolls and spam, especially in the PPR sub-forum. I've only seen Booya come sporadically, and I know that B19 quit for good. As for Ferris, I really do miss him as well.

I can see similar reasons why a normal member would want to quit. I've had periods where I wanted to quit simply because I wasn't popular enough.

If popularity was the sole basis for deciding whether or not to quit this website, about half of the members would already be gone, and the other half would be thinking about leaving.

(... imho, of course...)

Popularity can mean different things. There are some members on here that I suspect I would not like very much if I met them in person, but I enjoy reading their posts. There are some members who have very different political or religious views to me, but I like to surprise myself by agreeing with them occasionally.

Of course, there are others I just like unconditionally.

Why can't you write about the land known as Vwohie Harzaie?

Do you mean when you posted about how a certain girl would use you and play you like a fool and give you nothing in return?
So I gave you advice for the perspective you presented at the time.
If you followed that advice and you are now miserable that is NOT my fault.
You're an adult and capable of making your own decisions
Blaming others gets you nowhere, just makes you feel more of a victim.
Your hostility towards me was one of the saddest things I've had to face.

Like Ferris, I quit.

I hope you don't quit.

Quitting never solved anything.

People are going to get mad at you----for whatever reason. That's inevitable.

Saying this, I have to work on this myself. I have to learn how to assert myself with people, and to not hide away from them.

It solves having to put up with the constant low level bullying and gaslighting here which mostly goes unnoticed by the general membership.

This isn't a matter of someone getting angry and then getting over it.
It's been going on for some time.
Someone will take against you and constantly make jabs at you until you're over it.
It looks like you've snapped over one comment, but there's been countless little unpleasant comments which all add up.
Dragged under by the undercurrent.

Well you've won.
I can't be arsed with your BS.
That's all I have to say.

I didn't say any BS.

I'm not smart enough to gaslight anybody----even if I wanted to. Which I don't---because it's a waste of my time.

You're a prominent part of the Site. I can understand you're upset.

I just don't like quitting. I've quit too many times myself.

What annoys me is the misinterpretations but I think they're bound to happen when you put aspies together. We're not the best at working with unclear information and we're also not the best at knowing how to make things clear to other people.

I don't think many people on here have an 'agenda' compared to on other sites.
