I wish I got to know Starbuline better. I've never really bonded with anyone here on WP, but still, like the passing of a kid you knew in school, and maybe talked to a few times, Sophie's passing has hit me

Not having known her I cannot say much but when I read the description of what happened it sounds, unfortunately so incredibly teenaged. :( For years Ive heard about teen suicide pacts but this is the 1st time in a long time that such a thing was actually followed through on. When you're a teen, suicide can be very contagious. The trouble is, sucide is almost always an impulsive act moreso than a premeditated act. When a not is left is because the person had been feeling those impulses for a while. I wonder why her bf committed suicde though....... :?

You know what this sort of reminds me of: The photos taken from that Canadian couple vacationing in Thailand. They took a series of pictures of the tsunami coming in and what turned out to be their very last pictures just before they perished a few minutes later when it hit the coastline. They stood there taking the photos knowing in the end it would be too late.

I am overwhelmed with sadness and cannot stop thinking about her though I barely knew her..

sadness for her, sadness for me for not getting the chance to know her, sadness for her friends and family, sadness for the loss of her passion and originality in the world and what may have been..

and I am overwhelmed with sadness for the grief expressed in this thread..

Sophie: may you finally find the peace you couldn't in life

at least i can't miss someone i never talked to :| still i feel kinda bad for not having chance to know her, not sad though, somewhat resigned or something like that...

I didn't know Starbuline, but it hurts to lose one of us. It isn't obvious how much we look for familiar names to show up in posts until they don't. I know many people here say they don't need other people, but let's face it - if we didn't need each other at least a little, WP wouldn't have lasted this long. I'm glad for WP and for the people who try to help where they can.

I'd like to offer this for her, if I may:

May your bed be made from joy and your pillow from peace,
and may your linens be woven from love.

I agree that it hurts to lose one of us..

I think that's why it has affected me as it has as I feel very at home here and feel connected to this community in a way that I don't with most people..

"There are some things that can stop an aspie dead in their tracks"

That was a quote a member of the manty aspie support group wrote way back when for the annual autism awareness walk. They were put as signs along the walk route, burma shave style. Becasue of our experiences, we're smart enough to understand our own mortality on a level far beyond others. And that makes this all the more hard to swallow.

I kick myself for not keeping up with the forums, but I don't have the time or energy to read the hundreds of posts that come to this site each day. She wanted to be a model - I'm a photographer. I could have helped. I just wish I could have done more to help out.
