It's certainly your life and none of my business how you run it. But I fear you put yourself at great risk and harm doing stuff like that, and maybe seriously set back any progress you might have already made towards getting better.

remember, he has no teeth so fast food is the only thing he can practically eat, unless somebody makes a veggie smoothie for him to drink.

I understand and I'm not trying to pass judgement because it's what I would have done myself in the same situation. I'd just like to see him take a turn for the better rather than the worse. All that sodium and sugar plus being out in the cold in a t-shirt and sandals.

poverty and cognitive limitations/physical limitations makes it a lot harder to do the right things in life. it limits our choices. it's one thing just to be poor, but to have those other things stacked on top of it, is nigh-well insuperable. well-born middle class folks typically have few [if any] such limitations.

Like I said, I'm not trying to pass judgement and actually hope he had a good time. At he same time I'm concerned that he made his water retention problem worse, his diabetes worse and might came down with bad cold or something worse from exposure. Is it wrong for me to be concerned about that?

I wasn't criticizing your statements, just adding a little backstory to it, is all. from a middle-class standpoint, it seems he is doing all the wrong things, but from street level, he is doing just what he is able to do in the absence of middle-class accoutrements. the fast-food diet sounds awful, for sure, but the only alternative available to those in his situation [starvation] is worse.

I didn't think you were criticizing me, I just didn't quite get what you were getting at. What I'm saying is, right now he is in a care facility with heating and blankets and being given proper meals. He made the choice to abandon that and go do what he did. Which is fine by me, I just hope it didn't have negative repercussions.

....I may not be up to writing the long story I was starting now, but a point of it is that my plans to (1) do something about the ID card and (2) get some additional shoes did, in fact, work out, I accomplished both though possibly a little differently than in the manner in which I saw myself doing it.

...You knew it was sun at my back, not " dun "? As I said, I get little at the rehab place. The phone is doing this writing, at least, obviously - but it really won't connect to Pandora or, especially, You Tube at all anymore  . I guess I will have to just get a new phone with the. new month and year and be more careful with it this time :( .

...I meant to say before that I didn't eat too " well " on this trip (Yesterday, by now.) & that I went to the Chili's after missing the bus for somewhere warm & lit to wait at - and, as it turned out, use the wi-fi - over the 9p minutes from the 7:49 bus to the o:19. I was coughing again and the dementia'd roommate was calling me " Peckerwood! " And saying " I'll beat the s**t out of you! " :( - he is wheelcair-bound and needs help to get our of bed, so he can do no such thing, but still :x .

...So, anyway, I get out of the bus and then, go to the McDonald's, indulging myself, perhaps getting the desire for if out of my system,,,and getting to sit in the Sun some and warm my back and read the copy of the Santa Cruz paper they had there, I had missed getting one at the rehab that morning. And I got warmth on my back :) . Then, leaving, I head toward the DMV. I am pretty bloated and I move slow :( .
At some point during this general time, the bandage on my right.foot, where the last amputation was and there is still a not completely healed?? wound, starts coming off, and I am dragging it behind me.

...So I went to the DMV, intending to present my new I'D card voucher and get a new one, Once I was there, dealing with my OCD regarding dealing with my crutch and backpack was hard, while trying to keep the things from my pockets where the important things we're, and my hands when I touched them, especially clean.
I had filled out the form to get a new I'D, when I discovered that I was wrong regarding my belief that my existing I'D card expired on my birthday in late January 2018. It in.fact ran two years longer than that, expiring on my birthday in 2020. I decided I didn't need to get a new card now with two more years left in the old one, having two cards might be bad luck, and the picture of me on the older card was of me younger, with redder hair than a new picture would have, and generally more attractive than a new one would likely be - That seems to go along with the theory that I've gone downhill since then, but haven't I :( ? - The lady at the place suggested I keep the voucher for when I do need it, but I didn't want to.
In two years I may be not homeless or I may be dead. It would be nice if I could get to know (meet) some of the oeople here before I die  .
I'm up to 309 pounds the last time I was weighed. This place maybe appears to not care very much :( .

Keep the voucher.

The folks at the rehab center should know that you are retaining too much water.

Good job getting all that done - sounds like it was an exhausting day!

Hope you're getting some rest, and I'm glad your roommate is more 'bark' than 'bite'... That's a term I'd not heard before, I had to look it up! 8O

It means that a person makes idle threats, but doesn't actually do what he/she threatens to do.
