I mean for conversation, not to ask the girls out. I'm talking about guys at parties who are friends of friends. Not complete strangers. They don't even try to be your friend and it's intimidating going up to a group of guys to talk to them so u can't do the approaching.

The women I know in these settings will talk to a man if he strikes up a conversation with her. Or she'll talk to him if he's not enclosed in a group of other guys. They're not mean girls. We're just some how not good enough for these guys.

My problem is I'm naturally quiet. If I stop looking I just won't talk to anyone. If I'm at a group thing I won't bother talking to any guys and goodness knows they won't talk to me. The men left over just don't seem to talk to women, they just hang out in the corner with their other guy or couples friends. And that's probably why they're single. If no one makes an effort nothing happens and everyone is perpetually single.

sounds like you're gonna have to be the one to break the impasse, by marshalling your oomph and picking off one of the better male candidates and chatting him up.

Thank you. Therefore "giving up" is not a option.

Even saying hi to a girl is hard. Usually when my friends introduced me to their friends I was super quiet and these were guys. I'm super super shy around women. What right do I have to talk to them?

A taken coworker rode the same bus other day as me. She waved at me as I was walking up to wait for the bus at the station I didn't even think she was waving at me first and so looked behind me to see who was there. We then had a akward and probably (irritating to her) conversation while waiting, on the bus and then the 10 min walk to work.
I don't get why I'm guessing some social rule of some kind? 0.o
Most women ignore me and give me nasty looks when I try to just say hi how's you day going at work as required and I try to be nice to everyone.
So I've learned just not to approach or talk to women.

Maybe at a party they wouldn't know I'm min wage but they might been told either way I shouldn't they probably wouldn't like a worthless man talking to them anymore then the women at work do.

Those men may be worthless men too. You may not end up wanting them because of that but if you want to find out like aunt blabby said you probably have to make the first move.

What really throws me is when women at work do something nice to me 0.o i dont know what they'll up to, probably not anything good :s

sly, you're not the only one in this regard, i'm invisible to them also, and when they do pay attention to me it is not good attention. when you get to my age you'll discover that you're better off alone. IOW if people are not gonna be nice to me, i'd just as soon have then leave me alone. being invisible is the lesser of two evils here.

I must say Sly, I used to work in HR so processed a lot of job applications and your standard of writing is better than the majority of people. You're not useless.

Listen to Hurtloam, Sly. She's an objective observer of things.

I wish I could take her bowling!

She can teach you.

Just roll the ball hard down the lane, towards the center of the pins. You'll get at least seven pins most of the time if you do that.

My question for anyone who feels they are alone - are you really alone? Think about what or who matters most to you and whether you truly are alone. You may be surprised.

Anyway, I guess things get a bit harder as we get older. I'm friendless, dateless, etc, but that wasn't always the case. A decade ago I had friends and even girlfriends. For some reason it was easier, I was probably more NT back then. For aspies, not always knowing how to react to situations is something which is important to overcome so your true emotions/thoughts can be given to a potential friend/lover.

Confidence might be a big thing to overcome aswell. I agree with Lace-Bane who said to get involved with interests that are important to you, first and foremost. I would suggest doing those things online first via forums like this or similar. Then, maybe in a little while, you can get to know some people on a friend level and even meet if they're close or at least start a good bond with them, male or female. It's a step in the right direction and the more online friends you can find the more your confidence/self-worth should grow and the more that may carry over into real life.

That's not to say you should have low self-worth if you don't have any friends at all. But I think, at least online, it should be easier to build friends and go from there. In real life, people can be harsh, cruel and not open to things that they don't understand. Plus it's a very small pond. Online, it's an ocean that you can swim in, dive in, etc, and find (to carry on the metaphor) other sea creatures who'd like to explore that with you. 8)

Might need to shorten posts in the future as it was a long read... Will work on it. :D

Your post-length was fine.

Sometimes, I feel like I should write LONGER posts.

I agree with Times ideas of trying new activities. At least if you don't meet anyone you're still having fun.

You're taking the title of the thread too literally. I mean: I don't want to never have a man to hug. I don't want to always be the girl who is never asked out and who is always rejected when she asks. I don't want to never have a sexual relationship. I don't want to always wonder what a romantic relationship is like. I don't want to be always the onlooker when my acquaintances get married and actually look happy together.

But that's too long for a title.

That's what I took from the thread. It's how I feel but for a woman. I'm very lonely.

well but i am. because i'm not even close to your age. see my point?
40 was when mother nature flipped the switch from young man to old man, for me. the testosterone went south at that point.
Oh no! Will it happen to me? I need testoranone for my competitiveness!

I already waisted the best years of my teens and twenties strung out on testoranone reducing prescription meds. I don't want the only productive phase of my life to be between 27 and 40. That's it, the moment I turn 40 I'm going on steroids. Old age will be too scared to ravage me!
