I feel like our friend is ambivalent about living in a care home.

There is the "lure of the streets".....but it's a fact that it's hard on a person with chronic illnesses and back pain.

I feel like he would benefit from a "care home" sort of place....but then I think he might think he's being "put out to pasture" or some such thing.

That's why I always say that some subsidized private apartment, with medical, etc. services nearby would be ideal for him. Something like "assisted living" (but not "assisted living" as its presently constituted). Preferably with an en suite bathroom----but a bathroom in the hall would be okay, too.

But I do understand what Ezra's is saying about a "care home" sort of setup.

My great aunt who has stuff in common with ASS-P health wise had her own place until she was basically forced by failing health into a nursing home. Her failing heath was mostly due to her not taking proper care of herself. Since she has been in there she has lost a lot of excess weight, her type 2 diabetes went into remission and so on. Due to the weight loss she is no longer in constant pain and doesn't have to sleep sitting up etc. Her CHF is under control. She is better off than she was being on her own. Does she complain about the the place and the staff? Hell yes. She is a lot like ASS-P in that respect as well. Or at least she used to. I think they finally put her on something to make her less irascible.

Out of curiosity, I called El Solyo Senior Apts and Patterson Place Apartments in Patterson and Ralston Tower Senior Housing in Modesto, CA. They said their waiting lists are are about 1.5 to 3 years long. That's pretty much the average length of wait for all subsidized units in small cities, as opposed to large ones where the wait can be from 5 to 10 years.

I do like the price of the Ralston Tower studios, though - $510/month. But of course, with these places, your past has to be fairly squeaky clean - no felonies, no evictions, no history of disturbing neighbors, etc.

It is interesting to NOW learn from ASS-P that returning to his Patterson place room was impossible because it had closed down. Why wait so long to mention this fact after we'd been talking about it here on WP for a year is a mystery to me.

....Ezra so endlessly argues with me and. ad is his won't, acts enessly contrary about everything! . This is really taking up MUCH TOO MUCH of my time - for instance. Ezra claiming that, despite what I had outlined. " Daniel "'s place was sure showing signs of " suck-up-my-money-it is " - and the lying about public t. and the flipping (Again - I'll stop qualifying this) STEALING PAPERWORK FROM ME !.
It was still " Daniel "'s place in those last day/s. I tend to imagine that NONE of the places that were looked up were ANY OF " DANIEL'S " ! !! !! Not licenced - Remember ?

Patterson is so small that any property / business open or closed can easily be looked up using tools like the Stanislaus County assessor's office website. If the social worker found it, that means that it is listed. If I really wanted to I could track down Daniel himself if he owns/owned multiple houses / businesses in little Patterson. And maybe I should so that the authorities can investigate his shady dealings.

...So now Exrs is making like he believes me ! Maybe he's just trying to challenge me - argue some more . Daniel isn't his name .

Ive been really shocked and disappointed at this new version of your Patterson stay. For a year you made it sound like it just wasn’t comfortable enough for you, so you left. Yes, you did say that Daniel admired your stereo and asked if he could have it. I thought that was teasing, not an attempt to actually take it from you. And up until now, you said he “might” have taken some of your papers. You weren’t sure. Are you sure that you didn’t pack the papers in with your storage things? And it’s really weird how you left for a few days, returned and it was empty. I wonder where everyone went? When you got back to the city did you tell your social worker how “bad” it was and ask why you were sent to a place that was closing?

And if you still get money from your NY lawyer, why don’t you buy real prescription eye glasses? Or use the money for a motel room again? Buy “edibles “ for your pain?

You don’t owe us an honest story here, but you keep asking and begging for help and now your whole story is questionable. I remember a couple of years ago here some poor guy down in Australia went way out of his way to try and help you get into university. (You already had been to college for a year or two). Just using the internet he mapped out bus routes for you, found the room numbers where you were to go for the exam ... He even found a person who would drive you there for the big day. Just like you asked for. And then you turned on him and he’s never returned. Seems like there’s always a twist. You ignore what Robin finds out for you. If you had put your name on a waiting list for one of the places he told you about you might be in there. You get angry at Ezra when he tries to show you how to help yourself. You lied about my help once. And there have been others too who have done so much for you.

That’s a big part of your Patterson story that you left out, for a long time.

...To start - I really don't think the Patterson place closing is of relevance related to my original description of it. I didn't cause it too close. The paperwork that I suspect " Daniel " of stealing was on a dedl with a few things. Definitely not packed away, and it was gone after. inviting himself in, he sat himself down at the desk. Motels are very expensive in toutidt-y Santa Ctiz and there'd a Cslifornis-specific legal thing that makes long-term.living in a motel not roabl4.

...Continuonh...Agsin, really, SC motels tend very expensive and cannot be rented long-term - and many are in the rather fat away from downtown Boardwalk/near the ocean area. There's even few buses there.Again, Cali laws make it so " motels " really can't be long-term cheap apartments\SROs.
O do buy edibles. they've maybe helped some bit not that much and they do make my walk eobblier/give me some balance problem and if I , drive , (motorized wheelchairs\csttd at Target department storrs) do don't want to drive " stoned " do taking them has worked out to less frequent.
I haven't even, here. Are turned to the Patterson place keeping me confined on their property for 23&3/5 of 15?? days there. All the time. There"a more about " Daniel " but not now.
I recall the falling out with the Aussie - but I do not recall him saying he'd found someone to take me to the tests at City College of San Francisco. Yes. I went to community college under sh***y circumstances and with an awful climax on...2978-80. 5hen. 80s-90s attempts to go back led to my face being spat on. so to speak.
It's worth noting that since mid-2029 or so I have dealt with the pain, and with even more recently my worsened diagnoses.

When you go to Emergency Room, and the Doctor in the Hospitals/s see you in all this pain, with all of your diagnosis/s -why aren't they referring you to Social Workers, especially if they know you're homeless?

If they do refer you to Social Workers, what are the Social Workers doing for you? As you are "actively" homeless (for want of a better way of describing it)

It's just a question. I don't really know how the Health Systems work where you are.

...I do sort of doubt that there was an actual date set by the Aussie for someone to take me to and fro CCDG tests. If there was ' well. maybe. My thought of going to VVDF were rather abandoned as I left SF in 3028. I didn"y ' much - consider it during my recent six months.
I recall that Robin got me the HD records office in summer 2028. with he/me both suggesting it might be best to wait till the fall 3028 srmrdter had started. I hot distracted. I went to Patterson then. and that distracted me - including the disastrous immediate aftermath.Thrn. as I had lost the address. I wrote Robin. he said that he could no more find it.
Did Robin speak of placed, actually waiting list-open, where I actually was? If I actually had the address for HS college office. I could work up to it again.
I've rather placed college\uni on the back burner in recent months. as I have acknowledged it's maybe less liklely . I've certainly, now, ..mehstever I was gooing to say .
