I hate humans

They are the worst species to ever walk on the Earth. They're all so self important and careless. On my way back from class tonight, I walked by a black kitten, about 6 months old, lying in the middle of the road. Body still perfectly intact. But when I walked up to her, she wasn't breathing. There was a pool of blood underneath her head. I've spent the last two hours crying. And it doesn't help that on my way back to my college from thanks(living!! !) vacation, only 1 1/2 hours from my house, We passed dozens of dead squirrels, three deer, a rabbit, and dozens of tiny, squashed and mangled bodies that I couldn't even make out the species of.
And the worst part is that I'm human. I didn't move the body. I didn't know how. Every time I hear a car go by my apartment I know that it has the guts of a kitten on its tires. I didn't kill her, but I left her there. Just because I'm an animal rights activist, or that I take in any stray or lost animal who I can catch, or how I'll grudgingly do a favor for a human unless it's for their companion animal, and then I will do it with a bounce in my step and a sparkle in my eye does not exempt me from being human; of being part of the problem.
This theory of mind thing is not only bad for socializing with other humans, but it's bad for us. I can't seem to wrap my head around why humans treat anything that's not human less than worthy of being on the planet. I just don't understand. If you ask most people if there's one species they could have removed from Earth, they would say mosquitoes or spiders or something else considered a nuisance. I would say humans. We have these enormous brains and use them for greed and gluttony. Nothing good has ever come out of humans being on the planet. Shouldn't our large brains make life better not only for our own species, but for our planet? Why do humans think they are gods? We're scum in my opinion. We are an infection on the planet. Earth was never meant to function in a way perfectly suited for humans alone. People have explained to me why humans think this way, why they personally think this way, but I just become more disgusted with them. Their reasons always seem so trite and selfish. People eat animals seemingly without realizing that they are eating animals. Don't they realize they are eating a dead body? A body is a body. There's flesh, they're blood, there's pain. This is not only humans. Carnivorous animals eat other animals because that is how they must survive. And in the wild, it is a fair chase, a fair chance at life. Humans on the other hand don't need to eat animal products. So why do we? Because it tastes good? Well, slavery was pretty awesome for white folks, so why isn't that reason enough to keep slaves? Eating other animals is not even beneficial. It is unhealthy and unsustainable.
Why do we do things that only wreck and ruin? Why do we enjoy destruction? Why do we want to kill anything that's not directly enjoyable to humans?
The reason I don't believe in a god is for a few reasons:
"If animals believe in god the devil would look like a human being." -Sue Coe
If there were a god, s/he would have had to destroy us, because we are destroying his/her legacy.
I don't believe there is any power higher than another. All powers are equal. No one should ever have control over something like how humans have control over the planet. I think most of us would agree that tyranny is a very bad thing.
--Sorry for that. I'm really just very upset about seeing about a hundred dead animals on the road today and not doing a single thing about it. Thanks for letting me rant, WP.

I identify so much with what you have said. These things bother me a lot too. I can't even watch a movie without seeing some kind of atrocity being perpetrated upon an innocent animal and yes, so many lost on the roads and highways as well. I too have begun to feel this way with humans. I can't help it.
You're doing all you can and I hope you are feeling a bit better.
