Sorry to hear about that, don't give up just there. :(
Your posts are interesting and it would be a real shame to leave because of not getting response.

How about just asking common questions, sometimes that helps to boost up your amounts of responses in the thread.

Hang on? This thread has quite alot of responses...

I have felt the same way off and on. Sometimes I wonder why am I on the outside of the circle here too? I often wonder why it is that people with limited social skills in real life are able to establish a sense of camaraderie online and I am unable to do either. Then someone else posts that they feel alienated and I'm surprised because I don't see that person as being outcast from WP at all. I think we see things from our own perspective only. For instance I may feel hurt that no one has responded to a post but I couldn't tell you how many times I've read a post that I found very interesting but felt I would just be cluttering up the thread with a comment that just said "that's right" Maybe we should have a username likes this like Facebook has. So I have to remind myself that maybe others are the same and just because there's not a lot of comments doesn't mean I've been ignored. I hope anyway. So Frisky Girl, I'll bet a site like WP is a place where you can be yourself and bring up stuff that interest you which is hard to do in real life. So if you've stuck with my rambling so far please stay. :)

You do not rub me the wrong way. To be honest, I cannot recall seeing any posts that you have started, but I have enjoyed some of your responses that I have seen. I have not had a lot of time lately so when I am on here it is only for short amounts of time. I am missing a lot of posts, methinks. You did have me laughing out loud last week (I think? I am bad with time) when I really needed a good laugh. I would miss seeing you around if you left.

If you notice, the truly nerdy and academic loving people don't fit in here. (I don't mean just clever, I mean those who ENJOY discussing grad school, quantum phsyics) Many Aspies are like NT's minus social skills. I do feel that way too.

I look forward to seeing your posts in threads, and I think you have a great sense of humor and some really intelligent input. I don't reply to very many posts because I'm not convinced anyone here really wants to read what I have to say, but that's got nothing to do with you.

You're not rubbing me the wrong way, and you are a great asset to WP. On the other hand, you need to do what you feel is best for you.

Sorry I didn't respond back, I needed to take a break
from WP, been under some stress at home and received
some troubling news from 2 of my second life friends that
really upset me, all this came down on that day last week, I
don't know if I can come on as much these days, was getting
to preoccupied with this and another forum, I really need to
set my priorities straight.

I have the same feeling. Even on this forum, there seems to be a lot of back and forth interaction that I would find very difficult to engage in myself. Some members on here seem to be more developed than me in the social domain. Which is understandable, I guess, considering that I've never made improving my social skills a priority. However, communication for me is much better in real life; at least people know me very well and accept me for who I am. Even though I stutter a lot, monologue, and my thoughts are a mess that I often can't discern well enough to convey verbally, it's way more fulfilling to interact in real life than on forums. I think this whole online communication thing is causing me much distress. I still keep coming back, though, for some reason I truly can't discern. Maybe it's the fact that written words stay in my memory, while the spoken word does not settle in my mind easily. I come back to this website to look up different things about developmental disorders, mental disorders, or psychology in general, yet find myself posting here once again.

I have never cared about fitting in here. I am just being my natural self here and I'm not compromising myself to fit in or make friends. Getting respected here and making friends would be good, but I'm not willing to compromise myself for either. That's how I work in real life too. I see this site as a place to express my true self and to see how people will react out of pure curiosity.

I think of myself as somewhat good socially. When I see a post that I feel indicates poor social skills in the poster, I notice, but I don't get mad because I understand that it's not on purpose. I only get mad when I detect that someone is deliberately trying to aggrivate others or is clearly trying to be a fake person - a poser. Even then, I don't make angry counter-posts unless the behavior is getting really out of hand. I don't let behavior that looks self-honest rub me the wrong way.

I hope Friskeygirl and MathGirl feel better after reading this.

One more thing. Friskeygirl, zeldapsychology is right about your avatar. It is awesome. I've loved it since I first saw it.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not looking to make more friends here, either. I post things here, and then obsessively check the threads in which I've posted for replies. I guess you don't always get a reaction from other people online, and my expectations are too unrealistic. I also think that somehow my posts here have become more plain. I've looked at my older posts and I think I've come across as a more interesting person on this forum back then, than I do now.

I think everyone here probably feels like that. It seems very hard to form connections with other aspies, perhaps for obvious reasons. I see this place as a kind of free floating soup of thoughts and feelings being expressed which I can join in with or not. It's not a place I come to to feel 'fit in'.

There's no doubt that we are going to rub each other the wrong way sometimes, or perhaps often. The important thing is not to run away because of it, but instead to get more deeply into it, examine why you feel like that, what causes any problems to arise, and perhaps modify things to be more to your liking.

I haven't seen your earlier posts. Did you give a lot of information per day in your earlier days? Have you run out of interesting things to talk about? I like to keep the amount of information given each day at a low level just to make sure I have something to talk about another time. Maybe you just need to wait for the next interesting event in your life so you can talk about it. Sometimes I make interesting posts about what I saw once when I took a walk in the woods and what my thoughts and feelings were at the time.
