He's always nagging me to get a good paying job. I'VE TRIED. I've tried getting any job in fact, & still trying, but it isn't that easy for me. He's not very understanding of AS and seems to be in denial of it, clinging to the delusion that maybe i'm just lazy, and that if he guilt-trips me enough and nags, and pushes, that i'll magically get a job right off the bat that pays $30,000-50,000 a year and be wildly successful

My father has always been the same way. He accepts that I have AS now, but will never understand what that means exactly. And he often still has the "just go out and get any old job" attitude, as if it were that easy.
was your dad by any chance in the military too :? ?

Sean, let me know in a couple days how the donations are going. I can't make up the difference, but I can probably kick a few more bucks your way if it helps. :)

In the mean time, you might look into some odd jobs if you can't land a steady one. See if anyone wants you to mow their lawn, weed the gardens, etc. I've done this in the past for a bit of spare cash when I didn't have a job.

You can also apply at a temp service (I used Express Personnel Services, I don't know how widespread they are) that will look for jobs for you. All you have to do is say yes or no when they call you with something. I did this a while back, and landed a good job in a couple days afterward.
