Not sure if this will help but when I was depressed I would make myself cry at times so I could go without crying latter on. Maybe you could cry when your roommate isn't around :?

Well, the urge to cry is gone now. She's usually here whenever I am so it's kinda difficult. It's the polar opposite of my last roommate who was never here.

That's okay. I can keep this stuff in mind in case if the urge to cry returns.

I think it's kind of medium. The urge to cry, try medium not to cry, but if you go ahead and cry, that's okay, too.

If you cry in her presence, she will probably ask if she can help, and she'll both want to be let off the hook and sincerely want to help, for she's human afterall.

Maybe a short general statement 'It's so different than high school.' That's what I consider to be measured disclosure. And then it's your choice if you wish to disclose more.

It's my senior year in college. She surely would know that I have adapted by now. Granted, the courses I'm taking now are a lot harder than the first two years of college. She's very logical so she will probably just give me practical solutions and stuff when a lot of the time I just need to be left alone or hear a few comforting words. D:

I hold the tears in until I can do it no longer, and than I have a good cry. I find that it's easy to have a good cry, if today's world really gets to be too much for me to handle.

I try to wait until I'm alone but that doesn't seem to happen very often. I hate letting people see me cry. D:

What if you start with 'I just need a couple of minutes'

And then if she doesn't get the point, 'Just let me feel what I feel' maybe something like that. Or maybe something more intermediary before this? Maybe.

Find a place to remove yourself from the situation, or carry something in your pocket for you to play with and take your mind off of things for a few minutes, or find somebody who will talk your ear off about odd topics, giving you something else to think about until you can get ahold of yourself?

I had just gotten over the end of a good relationship which ended because the guy I was with got denied permanent residence to Canada by the government. We are still friends but it hurt alot. If it wasn't for the government, we would still be cuddling and being together. He has to go back to El Salvador next year but it was better the romantic relationship end now and we just be friends, so then it would be less painful when he goes back to El Salvador. Crying is part of being human. Although I am over the ending of a good relationship, I mostly cry now because work has become unbearable. Management is making it unbearable for everyone. They go after us for every little detail now and it feels like I am walking on eggshells. I am one of the hardest working and get the most done, but that does not mean a thing. The person who cleans the tills quit so they just dumped all of that on to me on top of my normal duties which are enough as it is already. I am hoping to get out of Red Deer and go to Calgary to be with my best friend. He is also from El Salvador but he has permanent residence. He has always been there for me.He has his moments where he cries too because he misses his mama back in El Salvador or when he feels sad and lonely. I do cry when I am lonely too.

That might be okay. :D

jec6613 - Whether or not that would work depends on how upsetting the thing is. If it's really bad, the voice in my head will overpower whoever's talking to me, or whatever I'm doing. It should work most of the time though.

Tony_canuck - That sucks. Being lonely is one of the reasons I cry, others being poor body image, stress from classes or something else of the like. :(
