Drowning can't be a pleasant way to go...

If you actually have the energy to make a trip to the coast and push off a raft, I think you have it in you to put that energy toward making your situation better instead.

As others have said, a little hygiene effort will keep you from driving away people who you want around, and you'll a bit feel better.

Actually i've heard that drowning is the gentlest way to go. just disable the panic button (i do it , swim down deep, and take a deep breath in.
saves ppl having to clean up any blood too. i'm thinking i'd do it so that no one would have to clean up after me the way they have to pay for all my appointments and schooling and drive me around like they do now.

Then again dead men tell no tales. Drowning is a form of asphyxiation, so if youve ever chocked on something real bad thats pretty much what drowning will be. For the smoothest one id say carbon monoxide poisoning in your sleep, dont know what youll do to get it be it sleeping in your garage with the car on or making your furnace "malfunction" but it seems as the best way to go since you literally wont feel anything.

Waterboarding is based on the reality that having water in your airway/lungs is extremely averse and traumatic. (The "rag on the face" demonstrations were BS; the real version involves putting water up into a person's lungs.)

I had a few closes while snorkeling, and running out of air... there's the stage where you pee yourself, and then beyond that your limbs become increasingly uncontrollable and thrash, and it's all incredibly unpleasant (reminds me of descriptions of "akasthesia," which has caused people to kill themselves to make stop).

This is the worst way to go for peoples who care about you. There will worry for the rest of their life on waht happened to you. :(

I always think about the web sites that post pictures of people who comitted suicide and all the loosers who post comments making fun of the way the person died or how the body looks. That alone keeps me from doing it.

FWIW - people in San Francisco have been jumping in front of Muni buses, not only it is a gruesome way to die but it SNARLS up traffic on the street for both buses, bikes and cars.

Honestly, forget suicide - it's a permanent fix for a workable problem. It's not capital intensive to freshen up. If you have chemical sensitivity, you can use castille soap - available at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods.

You never tell what's the reason that you want to end your life. Tell us more in detail so we can figure out if you're choosing the right thing to do. Tell us about your family, any girlfriend? Anyone cared for you? What's it that you hate about life?

Ironically, I believe she commited suicide?

Well I wish I had some helpful advice, but I have been struggling with suicidal feelings for a few weeks and they have not diminished. Best advice I can give is keep fighting the urges...that's what I'm doing but then I get to thinking to what ends. I guess you have to try and find something worth living for.

Parker died of a heart attack at the age of 73 in 1967. In her will, she bequeathed her estate to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. foundation. Following King's death, her estate was passed on to the NAACP. Her executrix, Lillian Hellman, bitterly but unsuccessfully contested this disposition. Her ashes remained unclaimed in various places, including her attorney Paul O'Dwyer's filing cabinet, for approximately 17 years.
