That's the tradeoff, then. You'll either have to talk less (make it more meaningful) or find a way to get more money to buy more minutes. It's really not at all reasonable to expect your mom to pay for you talking to your girlfriend.

She calls me because she has long distance, it doesn't cost ANYTHING for her to talk to me, my mom just has to be a control freak and only let me talk for 30 mins. And we did the letter thing when she lost her internet for 2 months, but its not the same obviously, and the mail can't always be trusted to get things delivered on time.

Dude, it's your mom's phone! She doesn't have to let you use it at all. She's doing you a favor when she does. Unless you're paying the bill. It's not terribly expensive to have a phone put in - why don't you get your own?

Letters will almost always get there. That's the downside of being poor - you have to live with being poor. Until you can do something about it.

The thing is, she doesn't pay ANY of the bills or anything around here <_< my dad does all the financial stuff in this house, and he doesn't even make up any of these rules, its all her, yet all she does all day long is do the sims 3 stuff I mentioned earlier with the tv on all day. She hardly does ANYTHING other then that. As I said she seldom cooks and most of the cleaning and other household chores are done by me and my sister, though mostly my sister as of lately beings I have a job now. The only time she'll ever really do it is if someone is coming to our house and she acts as if the world will come to an end if its not clean, hence why we don't have many people here. Heck, the last time anybody stayed at our house was in 2007 when my grandparents came for my high school graduation for 2 days <_<

Once again, it's your mom's phone. And your mom's house. I'm assuming mom and dad are married. That makes them partners - his money is her money, etc. Even if they are not, whatever arrangements mom and dad have made between them as to what she does or does not do is not up to you. You are living there because they are being nice and allowing you to live there. You have no right to anything.

Good luck.

On the one hand, you have a job and feel like an adult. You are disgusted with your mother for being obsessed with something that holds no value for you. She has always been a stay-at-home-mom and will probably be a housewife if you move out. Your parents have something worked out, or it wouldn't have been that way for so many years. That's their business, isn't it? I wonder if she's suffering burn-out after having raised an autistic child for several decades. Imagine that.

On the other hand, you have shown your immaturity in several ways. Break down what it costs to run a household every month. It's not just rent. It's utilities, tv, phone(s), Internet, renter's insurance, gas, food, car payment, car insurance, and more. Your paycheck might cover it, depending on where you live, but it's likely that you'd have to get a roomate. Roomates can be much more annoying than mothers. What types of life skills are you proficient with? I'm assuming you already cook, do all of your own laundry and picking up, go grocery shopping, make appointments, etc. I won't comment on the Internet girlfriend. I've already had that conversation with my little brother several times and it's fruitless.

Overall, it's sad that you hate your mother.

I'll tell you whats sad!

-I have a mother who sees my autism as a "convenient excuse" for things I can't do, or do to her standards.
-I have a mother who lies to my girl friend.
-I have a mother who lies to me about things my girl friend said that aren't true.
-I have a mother that sees that damn sims site to be more important then people around her. When anyone tries to talk to her she'll just give you a "yeah" or a fake laugh if you try telling her something funny, or sometimes not even acknowledge you.
-I have a mother who can't even repeat something you just said to her because the sims site is more important.
-I have a mother who tried to force me to stay in college that I was failing and getting depressed and stressed out over just because if I stayed in college it would be convenient and keep the cost of our health insurance low. The day I lost my college scholarship was one of the happiest days of my life!

My respect for her dwindles a little each day. I'm not afraid to cut all ties with her the day I step out the door when I finally move out. I'm not even afraid to keep my future children out of her life because I don't want someone like that in their life!

SectorStar, I'm going to repeat this in case you missed it.

Your mother may well be a narcissist.

There is a wealth of information out there on people like that. I encourage you to read it and use it to plan your next moves rather than trying to gain validation on a random forum filled with random people, some of whom may not have heard of the disorder and some of whom may themselves take some perverse pleasure in invalidating people.

For what it's worth, I do agree that if your mother is indeed narcissistic, you should move out ASAP and keep her well away from your kids.

Are any of your siblings also upset with her? What does your father think of her?
