Why was this thread moved to the adult forum? Makes no sense to me!

Well, regardless of that, people are still ignorant if they call you out for the spelling.

That rather depends on the degree of errors. And what if it's in txtspk?

We need to be able to communicate with the people who are talking to us.

I was talking about just this person.

I don't mind people being bad spellers. I'm usually pretty good at deciphering what they've said (I did teach English so I got a lot of practice!)
Text speak does annoy me though, because that's a choice, whereas bad spelling isn't. People are choosing to be lazy about their writing, and it makes it hard to read.
I also got very annoyed once when someone started trying to complain about the way I write (I write numbers out as words like four or five) when their writing was so bad you could hardly read it. People in glass houses.... (and I realise this being an Aspie board some people wont get the glass houses bit, but never mind).

I suggest that you might consider putting something about it in your signature. "Please don't attack me for my writing - it's not my fault - I'm not being a lazy speller - I can't help it." Something like that. :)

True. If there are that many spelling mistakes though, and they are that frequent, it can make you want to disregard what the writer is saying. Or if it's in txt spk. They are two different things, but they make it difficult to read and understand.

It's worth pointing out, though, that textspeak and spelling mistakes are two completely different things.

See above and I agree.

That said, using a spell-checker with each post shouldn't be too difficult. Safari has one built in, for heaven's sake.

I don't see any textspeak in this particular post of yours, though I haven't read the other one that's being referred to, so I can't really comment.[/quote]

And I wasn't on about the odd typographical error - that's normal. It's when there are many spelling errors in very short posts. Say seven or eight of them in a two line post, with further punctuational errors to match. Or having polls that completely invalidate themselves due to the utterly biased lack of choice. And so on.

This (http://www.wrongplanet.net/postp3587322.html&highlight=#3587322) was possibly the thread that was being referred to above.

Okay im sorry i can not understand what you guys are trying to say only some of it i understand.

(No i am not a lazy speller btw i do not pick to have problems with this and i try very hard)
Spell check is something i can not do they give me words that eather i dont understand can not pick out what one is right or wrong or just can not read. I have a program that i can use for my spelling but its not working at this momment so i can not use it it spells things for me when i talk but sometimes it also makes mastakes but not as bad and not as hard to corrected. other then this part of avreyone saying that i really understand nothing that was just said..... i keep going over it but its like huh?

Could you tell us which bits specifically you don't understand, so we can try and explain better?

Also could I ask how old you are?

Well I can't help explain if you can't pick out which bits of it don't make sense. If there's a section that you don't understand, just copy and paste.
Are you still at college or did you leave? If you're still there you might want to speak to one of the English teachers and ask them for some tips.

I think if you're not understanding huge parts of the site at seventeen then your parents really need to change how they're teaching you. Either they aren't teaching you properly, or there's something wrong (in which case they should be taking you to get assessed).
