hyperlexian -

You seem like one of the wisest and most sensitive people around here, someone who has acquired her wisdom through both experience and careful and thorough reflection. In my opinion, your sensitivity is a wonderful thing, but I also recognize how hard it can make life (I'm the same way) regardless of what's going on. The patina of strength serves us well but it also masks how much we suffer when things go pear-shaped. Additionally, our real strength makes it difficult for others to recognize when things aren't going well in our lives.

I don't mean to overinterpret through my own lens. Just know this:

We have your back here. Hugs. Multi-hugs. Let us know what we can do.

Hyperlexian my friend, we have a lot in common as fellow travellers on life's emotional roller-coaster.
For my own experiences those who help others need help too its a part of the way of being an healer of emotions, at times we see are own issues in other people. The key to dealing with this is positive self-care and a good support network.

Remember you too need a listening ear to talk to, like the listening ear you give to others.

(((unlimited hugs))) :D

*hug* I've learned so much from your posts on WP. I know that nothing I say will make you feel better, but I hope for better times ahead of you. xo

thanks, friends. why does a caring shoulder makes a person cry more than even the sad situation itself? it's a mystery to me.

I've been wanting to post here since the thread's inception but I'm clearly equally as crap at expressing virtual hugs as real ones. but here is one...

Maybe because we like the caring shoulders?
Hugging anyone and being on their shoulder would make me emotional.

thank you for being here for me. this thread has really been a bright spot for me. i can't seem to get moving very fast on the road to emotional healing, and there are so many setbacks. just when i think i am fine, some new aspect or situation comes along and hamstrings me.

speaking generally, over the last couple of weeks i've had situations that made me question my own motives and evaluate my own goals. in some cases i am making rational decisions to do things a certain way, then i am actually doing the opposite actions when faced with real-life situations. in other cases i am trying hard for a certain rational goal, but i am on a team and the other players gave up a long time ago, so i question why i am bothering.

a big part of some therapy i am doing right now is to learn to make decisions for myself using tools like a decision tree. but tools like that only help if you follow through with the correct decision. it's like my mind has two parts - the logical part like a parent who will choose the correct path, and the emotional part like a child who will go in whatever direction she fancies.

my recent crisis spans several aspects of my life (home, work, family), as i suddenly came to a large realization of how i am creating problems for myself. realizing how detrimental my own actions were had sparked a reaction of self-loathing. so basically, i saw what i was doing and it made me hate myself to a certain degree... and then there was the spiral downward.

i feel guilty about relying so heavily on people when i get depressed, so i pull away and start to lose the important connections. or i try to explain what is going on and the people don't understand why i would make such questionable decisions... and then i feel stupid.

at this point, i need to pull myself up by my bootstraps and stop the downward spiral so that i can work on the real issues. it is very hard to snap out of it though.

p.s. nobody on WP or on this thread made me feel stupid about my feelings or anything, i meant that i tried to explain myself to people IRL and they looked at me like i was an alien. people on here kick ass and have helped me a great deal. thank you.[/i]
