I found that Pregnancy Vitamins helped, they have a lot of extra folic acid and B vitamins which makes your hair and nails grow, gives you some extra energy and they won't hurt you. My ob/gyn used to give me them for stress.

i stopped taking multivitamins because i was worried about the new link with cancer. my sister has stage IV breast cancer and i feel like i am playing with fire if i do not take care of myself properly. but maybe i do more of a risk by not taking them. i don't know.

That anxiety by itself could be a direct cause of hair loss sounds apocryphal. If you pull your hair as a result of anxiety, then one might say anxiety indirectly caused the hair loss.

i had to look that word up.

i am hoping it will not take long to get in to see the dermatologist, and that they may have some idea as to what is going on. they will probably have some better ideas as to what could cause the problem. hopefully.

but it seems like a lot of people do have it happen after a stressful event, so i am probably chasing a red herring.

I'm sorry to hear your sister is sick. I didn't know about the link with breast cancer. I have to check that out. I don't always remember to eat so I need to take vitamins or I get sick. My hunger signal doesn't work right.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. Do ask for accommodations at work. Come armed with a doctor's note and consult an advocacy group on th matter ahead of time.

If your job is the main stressor, you should try to find a new one in a different field. Or maybe there is another position within the company you can get into.

Its good to continue looking, because you have to be afraid of doctors nowadays, but I do know hair loss is stress related, and in your particular case (with all the stress you are going through), that diagnose makes sense. I am so proud of you for trying to handle your sleeping issues without meds. I was reading and article is lifehacker yesterday about improving your sleep. Maybe it could help. I also loose a lot of hair (it is a family condition), and I have noticed I loose less hair if I keep it short. Maybe it could work for you. Best wishes.

Sorry to hear about it.

Hope that the meds are helpfull for your hair.

I was going through something similar recently most members on my fathers family side are bald and for me it started at 12.

My parents didnt pay much attention to it until a couple of years ago but now Im using some sort of herbal product for hair loss thats been quite helpfull, I wouldnt be surprised if its mostly a placebo thing but I cant complain so perhaps its something that you should look into.
Off topìc: just finished exams, will send you a pm sometime soon(I still need to sort the image thing but it shouldnt take more than a couple of hours)

one of my blood tests was for the B vitamins that are involved in hair loss and it came back fine.

i'm female so it's a bit devastating to visibly lose hair. tell you what, if i lose most of it and shave the rest, i'll post a picture.

yes, i am actually a trained teacher but the stress in that field is higher. i don't qualify for a transfer withiin the government as i am a term contract employee still (until february). there is a hiring freeze on creating new positions due to the economy and we have a fiscally conservative government. when openings do come up due to retiirments etc, there are hundreds or thousands of applicants for the one position.

i already took a 33% pay cut in downgrading from teaching, to this job, and it would be a significant drop if i quit the civil service. and i am afraid too much change will actually raise my stress level.

thanks for your kind wishes, by the way.

*sigh* i took the meds. i decided to try it last night and stay home sick from work today. i'm just making another post on the thread that explains why.

my sister didn't lose her hair from cancer, just from chemo when she had treatments. but i am paranoid abaout getting breast cancer as my sister and both grandmothers had it. i got a mammogram recently and i am fine though.

hopefully the dermatologist wil have some ideas for that and can give some guidance. ideally i'd like to have a solution that works on the whole body.
