sometimes, that is all that has kept me alive. it is a valuable safeguard that says i am still connected enough to other people that i want to avoid hurting them.
i don't have anything more important to say than what other people shared, but i want to say to you that you have made me smile and laugh many times on here. i find your posts to be interesting and intelligent and funny.
when a person commits suicide, it has an effect on family and friends in a big way. the person who commits suicide isn't just removing themselves from society like taking one rock from a pile. if it were like that, then the connected people (like rocks) would just resettle a little and no real difference would be seen or felt. the community/rockpile would appear largely intact and stable.
but no - suicide is like ripping the branch off of a tree. the tree sometimes survives, but it is fundamentally changed. there is distress and pain throughout the whole organism, and it will not recover easily, if at all. sometimes dysfunction spreads, and other branches die off too.
what i'm saying is that i understand how you don't want to make people feel sad, but i also want you to know that you are really important to people and that you have intrinsic value.

Hello. I'm sad to hear that you are feeling so down. I don't really know you very well, but from what I have seen you seem like a lovely person.
I have had problems with depression for a very long time, and you are right that it doesn't get better for everyone. But, what I have found, is that the way to get through it is take each day as it comes. Appreciate the little things. Don't listen to bollocks about what your life should be like, what you should be doing at each age, what constitutes success. Our world is warped about these things. Appreciate the things that make you feel good, such as music, or your interests, art or books, nature, birdsong, flowers, the sunshine or the rain. Whatever small things that bring a brightness to your day, those are the things that are worth it.
Because this world tells you that it is career, or education, or money, or power, or success that is important. This is crap. It's finding little moments of joy, little moments of happiness and contentment, that's what its about. Decide what is a good life on your terms, not what
others dictate for you. This is a crazy world, but there is a lot of beauty in it, find what is beautiful to you. This is the only way I have survived.
From what I have gathered of you so far, you are a caring person, you are loving, you have great taste in music, you are witty, you have people on WP that care about you. So I hope you start to feel brighter soon, and you find things of value in the world.

you've always been so nice and made me feel abit better about myself, and are another very wise woman so i value your response also.
i feel a bit lame not having much to discuss on the issue, but i just want people to know that i'm not ignoring what they say
i also want to just make it clear to people that this thread wasnt saying i'm going to commit suicide, incase that gets misunderstood

fair enough - i tend to treat it TOO seriously when people seem like they don't want to go on, even if they are not technically suicidal. my shrink used to call me out on having a "passive suicide wish", so i think i am oversensitive to when people seem to heading on that path. sorry if i looked too deeply or made too much of an assumption.
(thanks for what you said too, by the way)
