You have friends here, just not where you will physically be.

While you may not like the idea, finding a church that you can tolerate will be a good place to start, especially if you keep to the mainstream religions (Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian). Even if you are more familiar with the more Orthodox Christian (or even non-Christian) religions, a community bound by religion and familiar with the needs of a foreigner might not be all bad.

You don't have to believe as they do to take advantage of their support.

The importation of your snake will be a major project. Start working on it now. The importation of pet snakes into the USA via airline is regulated by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Luckily, Seattle is one of the ports of entry where animals are permitted entry by airline into the US. To give you an idea of how complicated it may be, this is on US Fish & Wildlife Service website:

You must also ensure that your wildlife shipment complies with state and foreign wildlife laws.

Yes. Other federal agencies involved with the import and export of wildlife may have additional requirements. These agencies include U.S. Customs and Border Protection ; the Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service ; the U.S. Public Health Service ; the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ; and the National Marine Fisheries Service .

You should also contact your state fish and wildlife agency about any state requirements or restrictions.

They consider snakes to be wildlife, even if bred in captivity. SEVEN state and federal agencies here in the US are potentially involved in the importation of animals. It could be complicated. For instance, the type of crate/container is regulated and if your animal arrives without proper documentation, it may be subject to quarantine; the cost to be paid by the owner.

Starting a new life across the world is a brave and demanding endeavor. I started a new life just 600 miles away from my midwestern home here in the US in my early 20s and it took every personal resource I had plus many miracles to accomplish. I doubt I could have done it with a pet in tow. My move to the East Coast and into my carreer required me to streamline my life to a single purpose.

I encourage you, wholeheartedly to seek your future here in the US or anywhere. Seek your miricle. Think soberly about the complicating factor of trying to bring your snake here. It may be an encumberance you can't afford.

Spaz, hi. Taking animals across the world isn't easy. And logically why would it be easy? When a friend moved to Germany, by far, the most complicated portion of her arrangements were those concerning taking her cat. Bemoaning; Why must it be so hard? is a waste of energy when the goal is to acheive something complicated.

Reading the US Customs website; it's inconclusive to me that it would easier to bring a dog from Turkey than bringing a snake.

I posted the link to the US Fish & Wildlife Service because the US Customs website says this about bringing a pet reptile through airport customs;

Other common pets such as rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, gerbils and guinea pigs may be imported if they are in good health. The importation of reptiles and invertebrates is restricted; please contact the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for additional guidance.

* Restricted means that special licenses or permits are required from a federal agency before the item is allowed to enter the United States. Examples of restricted items include firearms, certain fruits and vegetables, animal products, animal by products, and some animals.

Also if you think it's probable that you will be taking the snake back into Turkey, find out if Customs in Turkey allows snakes to enter. (American citizens are advised to take certain steps before taking pets abroad, in order to insure that once the pets are out of the US, thay will be admitted back in.)
