well, at least you're far from being the only one to have these difficulties. i only recently learned that i am fit just to be a none-too-active hermit out in the woods, and up until that point i struggled to be with people and not go crazy. as far as caring for other people, when i was your age i had it in my young mind that i wanted to be a social worker, never mind that
I was the one in need of social services and that i had no business attending to anybody else's needs no matter how trivial. my heart was in the right place but my brain was in the wrong place. your heart is in the right place also, this is admirable. the struggle is to make the brain do the heart's bidding without mucking it up somehow. in 5 decades i've failed utterly at this task, but i believe that you, with your youthful energy [and the advantage of fresh decades ahead of you] can succeed where i failed. you can be a people helper, because you care.
