I only watch PBS and Stargate. Reality programming is not as real as they would like you to believe, and all the sitcoms seem to follow the same formula - a doofus dad, a hot mom, and a couple of wise-cracking kids. Even Big Bang Theory uses the same formula; Leonard as the Doofus, Penny as the Hottie, and the other leads as the wise-cracking kids.

reality shows as long as american idol is among that list. i hate that show with a freaking passion. the only actual good singer that came out of it was daughtry.

all they do is go on and butcher several hundred songs a season and give them a quick ticket to fame, lucky basterds almost all other singers had to work from the ground up, and these rejects get a free pass.

excluding daughtry all of them suck. and even daughtry should have let shinedown sing their own song. daughtry's own songs are awesome and almost seemed to fit in music like it always was there.

the talent show isn't much better a ton of people use it to mooch off of like american idiol. course isn't to many reality shows i actually like. unless mythbusters is on the list the only one that is decent.

TV is pretty bad really. I've pretty much stopped watching any kind of TV nowadays. I actually when I had my TVs going, I'd pretty much only watch BBC America, so I could see Top Gear and the Gordon Ramsey, plus in general BBCA was a good channel to watch, imo. One of the last nails in the coffin for television for me, was the AZN channel going away. For me that channel was a refuge of sorts, and it had wonderful shows. But alas, all good things must come to an end, while bad ones stay around for seemingly eternity. But yeah, if you hate it so much, just don't watch it. You got the internet, go download some stuff to watch.

i don't watch it, but i always happen to be in earshot of the tv when they are yet again butchering another song i like. and even worse some of the rejects sing on live radio it's like salt on the wounds. the only one that earned his spot on the radio is daughtry.

so try as i may i can't avoid the effects of this show.

i stopped watching tv when we got direct tv it has 1000+ channels i'm not fishing through all that crap the only channel i really want was stars because it has all movies and i think and no commercials. that's the reason i liked it no commercials. but it's expensive so oh well. i kept making my favs list for channels but every time the power to the box was cut i lost all my favs, i eventaully gave up. it didn't help that it was on the same plug box circut breaker that all my game systems were on, and it was not exactly glued in so i would unplug my one system to get another in and 50% of the time the box came out. heck the cat would go behind my entertainment center and would pop the box out from rubbing against it.

Agreed with Louise. I watch TV and YouTube on the internet, and I watch TV occasionally but I don't feel frustrated about the content because I can find what I want to see online.

Here is a great movie about the development of Mircosoft and Apple. It even features the Altair 8800!

What Alex said.... there are plenty of good quality shows. DR. House for the win! And all those he mentioned.

Reality shows seem to be all over the TV, just like ricer punk sports cars seem to be everywhere.... they are really a minority. It's just when something is annoying it will grate on you and it will seem like a bigger deal than in really is.

Watch good TV. Ignore bad TV.

My issue with all this is the dumb audience demanding these crass shows. You know a lot of people WANT this crap. If they didn't want them it wouldn't have been produced in the first place.

It's too bad that the previous safe havens (History, Discovery, TLC) have caved in to popular pressure and to the allmighty dollar, and they are now at least 50% reality TV. It seems to me that they have more reality shows than most other channels! There's hardly any history on History anymore. :(

If you are in the US, join Freecycle on YahooGroups. People give old working TV's away quite often on mine, and you can also put up a "needed" post for one.
