Most people don't wrong me; it's just the few that do are the ones I tend to remember. Most people are actually very nice and try to be accommodating.

I agree, and I try to remember that. It's just hard to sometimes.

Dude I totally Dyslexia-ed your nickname in the neighbors thread, but cars are a good interest to have and your last job sounded fun beyond belief. What other areas of your car interest can you branch out into? For a way to make money driving deliveries is a good gig where you're pretty much left alone, I knew 1 guy who did nothing but drive packages of silicone to all the plastic surgeons' offices all day, or in OC they have a place called 'Midnight Munchees' that you can pretty much guess what they specialize in.

Me myself I'm not really alone all that much, but I am surrounded by NTs and 1 autie, so I'm constantly wearing myself out trying to communicate with anyone and figured any way I can reach out to other aspies locally would help me and help them

No worries about the name. People get it wrong more oftenthan not.

Right now, I'm working on becoming a trucker. Not my ideal job, but there's a lot of demand for it in this area. Already got my class A permit, just trying to raise some money to get some behind-the-wheel training.

You mentioned in the neighbors thread the possibility of meeting up with other local people. Sounds cool. I'd enjoy it too. No guarantees I could participate, funds are a major issue right now, but it would be nice. What general area of the OC do you live in? I understand if you don't want to get too specific, but I used to spend quite a bit of time there and wonder if it's one of the parts I know.

Right on, just play it cool. As far as OC, I'm based out of G. Grove, currently I'm up in LA county near the 605/ Telegraph. I have some of my interest people in Silverlake, some on the Westside, spread out all over really.

I was considering whether I should go for a CDL; I've had people tell me I'd be good at it and it would be good for me. Keeping logs and dealing with cagers aren't my strong points however. It's funny though, since in kindergarten I had to draw a picture of what I wanted to be when I grew up, that's when Smokey & the Bandit hit big so naturally I had to become a truck driver

Anyway there are 2 routes you can take toward training. There should be ROP for that where it's pretty much a classroom type setting and I believe there are minimal materials fees. Another option is the outfit CRST; they will train you and then you work it off in 2 or 3 years. Rookies get crap hometime though, pretty much OTR for a month straight then maybe 2 days home. I have a friend of the family who did that but ended up going to a local dispatch shop that locked its doors on everyone one day

Yeah, looked into CRST. But I want to be home each day. And I'm near the port, so there's a lot of work available, just running between the docks and local railyards. And I've worked on the docks, know my way around down there pretty well, and already have a TWIC card. From what I've heard, with my experience on the docks, I should have my pick of jobs once I've passed the driving test and gotten the CDL. Given that, I'd rather come up with the money for training than get stuck doing long hauls for a few years.
