I feel like I lost my youth
Are you KIDDING???
Seems like an irresponsible comment to make given you obviously don't know what you're talking about.
Let's not digress. No one talk about this comment from now on.
What makes you think there are less idiots there? What year are you in college? At a certain point, you usually end up in classes composed of people mostly in your major. It's a self-selecting circle. Unless your self selecting circle is full of idiots.
I am 17 and in my last year of high school. In books i read, they put so much glory in being young. Im afraid im wasting my youth but i dont know what my ideal youth is. i have always worried that when im older, ill look back at being young and regret not enjoying it. thinking about my past and future ruins my present. im afraid of the outside world because im scared and uncomfortable. i have a lot of social anxiety. I hate the fact that im not happy, but i have to cast away those fears for they're making things suck for me. Im not sure how to get over these fears. High school is terrible for aspies apparently. and i dont wan the rest of my life to be miserable. maybe being young is a part of being angsty and sad. its widely known that teens have emotional problems, and im sure its worse for people like us. theres no straight answer. i guess we have to realize that we get unhappy and we cannot beat ourselves up for it. its not our fault.
im bullied a lot too, im an easy target. im scared of the future. i dont want to be sad. but i have no idea how things will turn out, and no one else does either.
Society paints a glamorous picture of youth, but the truth is not a lot of people live up to the hype in TV, movies, or pop culture. If someone does live the lifestyle of parties and dating all the time and hooking up, there are downsides--like drug addiction, STD's, bad dating experiences, peaking in high school. Honestly, the people who were most popular in high school are losers now that they are adults--big losers. The geeks are successful and leading fulfilled lives and accomplishing things. My youth was terrible, but I plan on living my youth as an adult. I am working my ass off now so that I can afford to do fun stuff later like travel and produce art, and I don't plan on getting married or having kids any time soon. That will only slow me down. Society paints a narrative of what the typical life is supposed to look like, but that is just a myth. I know very few people who live the traditional life, and they are no happier than other people.
America eats it's young. Don't buy into the societal myths. That is just stuff corporations feed to you to try to get you to buy stuff or work and make money to keep the economy running. Be your own person and ignore what society says is right. You can just be you anyway, so might as well make the most of it. I wish I had wasted less time trying to be what society wanted me to be. Then I might have enjoyed a lot more of my youth. Down with conformity! (nonsensical tirade over)
Seriously though, as a person with AS, you will mature much more slowly socially than NT's but that maturity will come and you will realize you didn't miss out on much just because you were not a social butterfly in your youth.

Yeah not sure about less idiots in the military...I've heard plenty of stories from people who have been in various branches about idiots they've had to deal with. Or there's one person who had been in the military I met who accidentally blew up their apartment making hash without proper ventilation not that they are an idiot about everything, but that there was an idiotic mood and he could have been killed......So I am not convinced people in the military are nessisarily smarter than say people in college, there's idiots in every job or field, and also I am sure everyones made at least one idiotic move in their life.
Its probably never a good idea to just assume switching from school to military, or from school to a job, or from a job to school or whatever will bring less idiots.
