What's your safe haven or own world?

I wouldn't really consider the world in which I retreat as a "safe place", considering its based off of the writing ideas I get. I happen to write dystopian sci-fi, horror, and thrillers.

I love having my haven be a place of free form creativity, but not completely abstract for obvious reasons.

I live alone but my bedroom is definitely my safe haven. Lately I've been through some trauma so I spend most of my time in here nowadays.

My safe place is my room too. The living quarter is where my parents dominate, so I just stay in my room with the TV on and play video games or do my school work.

I go up to my bedroom whenever I need to get away from it all.

When it's bad I head for the nearest body of water...even if that means the bathtub.

The internet!

One the internet I am a cultist of the Yellow Sign that has a Deep One husband (Who I was sort of forced to marry or die) and live in an underwater house under Lake Michigan with our spawn and yeah... it's pretty crazy.

I almost feel a bit out of touch with reality sometimes if it wasn't for the fact that it didn't leave the confines of the internet, but sometimes I can't help but try to think of writting a novella that took place in my hometown of Traverse City that is by the water. With that historical state hospital that probably could be a good place to maybe find clues such as maybe writing on the wall, especially since nowadays the state hospital is home to a lot of restaurants, which is kind of cool since you would be eating in probably the room where they did the lobotomies, plus that one stonehenge that was found underwater in Lake Michigan a couple years back. All perfect... plus, I'm sure freshwater Deep Ones of the Great Lakes have a different culture and maybe a slightly different appearance as well. Of course, the ending will be really twisted as well.

Man, why couldn't I have thought of this for NaNoWriMo, I thought of this literally on December 1st when it ended...

Video games for sure!

Sometimes I get so immersed that all the problems fade away ^w^
But if I'm too sad I find myself unable to start plaing~
So I got to bed and cuddle my teddy bear! :3

This.

It was one of the criteria when I selected the current apartment. Lake Washington is a block or so away.

But the bathtub is my daily retreat.

at work if I need a moment or ten, I do also hide in the bathroom...last stall..with my phone and no one bugs people in there....

i grew up on the water and my old apartment was walking distance from a small lake as well; i really miss that. being in the water or just watching it move on a cold day, either one is extremely therapeutic.

my safe haven is in the dark, where I can feel sorry for myself and be far away from anyone.

I just remembered... besides the bathroom as a haven, I used to always find the place/s in a house where one could not be seen from any angle from another room. Something kind of comforting about that. Like hiding in the open.

I'm just now reading this thread and realized that I have no "haven." How can I find one, or create one?
