I'm ashamed to admit this, but I have been fighting masturbation addiction for a very long time.

Same here. Masturbation could lead up to a messy room. It can also hold you back from progress.

Only if it makes you go blind.

Puritans have been fighting masturbation for centuries, believing that one man's "Pleasures of the Flesh" will send us all down to Hell.

Whatever harmless activity people do in privacy is no one else's business.

I have been late to work from jerking it but let me tell you two things. but first i am a 20 year old guy who got hooked on porn when i was like 15. i got caught a few times. i shoplifted porn. i watched rated r movies i could get my hands on. I was also raised very christian. now here.

1.) masturbating and watching porn is normal for guys almost every other guy christian or not struggles with it. I did it alot and now i have the internet and my own laptop and have porn anytime i want and i only use it every now and again. the addiction ended about 2 weeks after i got access to it. so odds are your urges will not ruin your life you just have to learn to control it. and only do it after you do your chores for example. but it will not like cause you to die or anything. or ruin your life. Maybe make you late for school some but you will most likely grow out of it.

2.) now if you decide you want to stop and follow the lord's wishes. Which are that watching another couple have sex is wrong for them but also for you because if you are thinking about having sex to the point of fantasizing then it is a sin. Then you have masturbating which in and of its self is not wrong but it does mean you are having feelings that you should only have with your wife.
But all that aside go to a male figure of respect, Preferably your father and tell him about your struggles. Tell him all your hiding places and methods, you dont have to mention masturbation just that you have found porn and it is very distracting and you feel bad and want to remove temptation. Things like limiting your internet access. not having internet unless someone is int he room, getting parental controls, on computer and tv. locking up all nudity containing books and movies. a big trunk with a padlock your dad keeps will be good its what my dad did. this limits your accuses. Next you get some accountability. someone who can talk to you about it. the idea that you have to talk about it makes you less likely to do it. I have heard of college floor mates who would walk up and down the halls making sure no one was watching porn or they would talk till they feel asleep so that they wouldn't do it. Your church may not talk about these things but they should also be loving enough to help you through it, but you have to tell someone it is going on and that you want it to change, as with any sin. Bringing it to light helps.

These are things you should know. I am not telling you what is right or wrong or what you should do I am simply giving you the chance to do something

Also pornography can cause you to be mentally numb, like you can't think right.

I can also say that about a lot of electronic activities: TV, video games, computer games..
Pornography really is another form of computer time - too much blue light!

What did you do to disturb you from viewing pornography?

Well it can cause issues in your life with relationships. It also can mean you dont last as long during sex. Also you get a twisted view of sex. But really porn just makes you dwell on sex more. your brain works fine but like any addiction it is just something you cant stop thinking about like i used to be with runescape i was always thinking about it so i guess porn can do that too but its not that the porn is bad its just the addiction that is bad but thats not the porn. you are addicted to masturbation.

You got that right. Right now I'm trying to stop masturbating. It's kinda hard to resist.

Like i said, its not a bad thing physically and it wont ruin you life. Though it is wrong spiritually. if you want to top get accountability you cant fight alone.

This, I agree with about 109%

            And this.

The guilt you feel is an unfair burden placed on you by a Christian belief system that is set in opposition to our natural, biological impulses. Good for you for reaching out but I would just say that you should enjoy your porn in a healthy way and understand that you are not being judged on any level.

In other words, you are healthy and normal :D

The worst evil in the world is erroneous guilt. The cruelest people in the world are those who sadistically foist it onto others.

There are two ways to let something control your life.
Lets take cake, for example.
    1. You can eat it all the time instead of regular food.
    2. You can refuse to ever, ever, never!! eat the sinful stuff!! -not even at birthday parties.
Both ways it owns you and makes your decisions for you. Decisions that affect your life.

Same with jacking off.

If you don't clean out those pipes every once in a short while it can lead to medical problems.
You don't want medical problems there! Ouch!

Stop trying to talk him out of his beliefs. he clearly wants to respect them. He believes it is wrong. Respect hes beliefs.
