Most try hard and can never make more than a C. The D & F kids are not impressed, and might just hit them, so they look for a cheap shot. Some one better than them with a flaw. It all they have.
Some magic words help, "Thank you," sets them back and gives you time to think, If you want to play rough, "Algebra," trick questions deserve trick answers. As they try to babble out some reply, "The Test", and then, "I have to study."
To be no fun to play on or around, you must work their fears. You seem much too nice to beat anyone up, so let them do it for you. No one has ever felt prepared for an algebra test. The test might not be till midterm, but their fear is now. It is nothing they want to talk about. They are not going to ask the dummy about the test, because they would really lose.
I was picked on in school for being slow, but when I get it I get it, and ranked highest in my class in several subjects. Play your strong suits, where you are superior, and they no longer want to play.
They do such things from a feeling of having to gain points, losing a battle of wits with you costs them lots of points. It can all be done politely, with a smile. If you get the first three moves, and they make none, and do not understand the game, you win. No one will want to play that game with you.
You do not owe anyone an answer to a trick question. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain by playing on your terms. Think out your response first, and it will flow freely. You will be saying smart things, and they will feel dumb. They have lost control, they will not be back.
It is manipulation. It comes naturally to most, it is how they compensate for their faults. All they can play on is the lag when you answer. Aspies have to learn it, but they can become masters of the art.
