It's possible what you say is true. But you have to at least try, my friend. You have all the time in the world LOL.

Have you ever heard of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs? Under Maslow's theory (note: I'm not an afficianado of most "theories"), you have to get your shelter and rest first. I understand that.

But in order to get that, you have to make aggressive steps (yep....even with those amputated toes!)

I understand your need for a LOCKER. Do they have them at the Seattle main train station?

...This argument seems to be mostly about the UGM . Again , partly based on my experience with them , I have doubts about how much they offer and how efficient/ready they are to offer it .
I very much don't think there's any kind of " train station lockers " in Seattle .
I spoke of ther credit card problem with a locker , didn't I ?????

And , what I said about the descriptions of what some agencies offer giving the impression that they offer considerably more thatn they offer (Perhaps based on old/inaccurate information)....Well , there's an example in my papers folder , which I'll try to cite .

Someone might live nearby and be willing to bring you excess produce from their stockpile. Many fruit/veggies don't require cooking - you may just be able to eat them as is. If there's more than you can eat w/o it spoiling, perhaps you could share it with others around you in need.

What other agencies describe or offer is irrelevant. You were given the contact information of an organization that offers exactly what you need. Contact them via email and find out if they can help you. Otherwise people will be reluctant to offer you any sort of help or advice if you refuse to pursue the possible help you've been directed towards. It's like that old saying goes "God helps those who are willing to help themselves." If you're unwilling to do even the littlest thing to help yourself, such as send an email inquiring about help, then you don't REALLY actually want any help - you just want to complain and have a pity party. None of that actually helps you rest, heal, or rehabilitate yourself after surgery. You have to take appropriate action and help yourself. Email them and see if they can help you. If they can't, find the next possible source of help and try again. Rinse and repeat.

You're making assumptions. Email them and find out what they can or cannot do to help you and then you'll know.

There is no magic fairy about to reveal themselves to you offering up a luxurious place to stay and heal. There IS the UGM and other organizations like them. Take action and contact them and find out if by chance they have a bed for you and some help with essential needs so you can literally get back on your feet.

My friend:

I know we seem like a "tag team." But don't think of us as that.

Let me see if I could find a locker for you.

I heard there's lockers at the Greyhound, located on 9th and Stewart.

...I HAVE NO WAY of picking up peoples' urban farming discards and , if you really think that a UGM E-mail would get me even , likely , a reply - your head is up your ass ! !! !! !! !! !! I really do doubt that they'd offer more than the other shelter , in the same Shelter District more or less , that I am in now ~ and the people at the UGM (the " clientele ") actually tend to be a bit more " tough " , and dis people from (presently) " my " shelter as " crazy " .
I think I'd likely , at best , get a bed , especially with no formal reference , about the same or maybe less than what I've got .

...If its the Greyhound I arrived in Seattle at ~ and I would tend to doubt that there would be two Greyhound stations ~ it had no lockers . I think Greyhound has tried to " upscale " their image recently . (And , even in the old days , I think lockers cost an amount that was not economical in the long run .) I think you may be frerring to a WA State friend , in Shelton - quite far away ?
That Greyhound didn't even have a pay phone !

I said someone nearby might be willing to deliver excess produce to you - but you'll never know if you don't ask and find out.

You know what the probability of a reply is if you don't email them at all? Zero.

If you do email them, at least you will have tried to contact them in the only way you're able to receive a reply & then there's at least a chance of getting a response and some help. Refusing to email them and find out is akin to giving up instead of seeking the help you say you Need.

It doesn't matter that you "really doubt they offer more than the other shelter." They may or may not. Email them and find out what they do & can in fact offer vs. making assumptions and refusing to try to help yourself.

Who cares what others think of you if you end up in a bet environment more conducive to your healing.

In your email, ask them if it would help if you had a formal reference if you think you might be able to get one. If they say it will help, then focus on getting one. Maybe you could get one from a kind Nurse at the hospital you left? You might be able to if you ask politely via a phone call or email.

LOL...NOWHERE has a payphone these days.

Maybe give the Greyhound a buzz? If it turns out there's no lockers--at least you tried.

I'll try to do more research.

This might be good: Share Wheel Storage Facility
963 Mercer St
206-623-0390
Pick-up: 6:30 - 8:30 AM Monday through Friday
7:00 - 9:00 AM Saturday and Sunday

They'll give you a lock for your locker--but you'll have to work 2 hours a month for them.

...That hospital is very far away , and I pointed out , either here or in another line , how f**ked-up they are .
PERHAPS I could personally enquire at the UGM but it's too late today , anyhow .
I really very much doubt they'd offer , even if they'd offer it to me , much different than what I'm getting now at the other mshelter and I told you about my experience with them...

But you won't KNOW until you inquire and find out.

It's 4pm, so maybe too late to venture over there today. But it's not too late to email. The internet is open 24/7. Email them now, and make plans to head over there tomorrow to follow up with them. Tell them in your email that you're going to try to get over to their site tomorrow. They might see that as a sign that you're willing to do whatever it takes to help yourself, and thus be more willing to find a spot for you with more support available than you're getting now.

...Gold , you are in Canada (where I am banned from traveling due to my record) , perhaps the more copious social services and I suppose even " Canadian politeness " might make you think it's that way down here .
For an example of " more promised in listings " I mentioned , another day shelter I've gone to's listing says they have a " library and computer room " - Yeah , a couple computers not connected to the Internet and maybe a few old paperback books floating around !
Likewise , you make a vague reference to " spare urban garden " offerings that has , somehow , become " I should call and ask if anyone is willing to deliver spare veggies & fruit to me , you'll never know if you don't ask " .
Yes , and Paul Allen (Microsoft) might be giving out fresh folders of new $100 bills , but the likelihood of that is SO SLIGHT that saying " but you'll never know if you don't ask , this shows you don't want to help yourself , you could just try " is BS .

Where I am and what's available to homeless people here is irrelevant - but for the record, people have difficulty finding shelter space/detox centres with available beds here because we have a MASSIVE homeless population due to the entire country's homeless people heading here where they can survive the winter in our mild climate.

Anyways, again, none of those things are relevant. As for UGM where YOU ARE, they're advertising the exact services you say you need. You're assuming they cannot help you rather than emailing/going there and finding out. Contact them and find out if they can help you.

...KK , what was Mercer Street ? I'm running out of time .
GO , NO , taking a very long ride w/my ball & chain to Everett WILL MEAN NOTHING ! !! !! !! !! !! They wouldn't know what I was speaking about .
Likewise , wasn't this whole " spare urban farmer's harvest " simply a " I heard there's some..." non-specific suggestion on your part ?
