Glad to hear that everything is working out.

What was the original problem sly279? Would it run then die? Does it struggle to stay running? What repairs did the shop do?

ran good, except vibration from worn engine mounts. then it stuttered and a bit. i parked it in parking lot and it idled fine for 5 mins while i checked under hood. then shut off to check oil. it wouldn't restart tried a few times then wouldn't even try. they replaced cap, wires and plugs. first tim i started it after i picked it up it sounded like a weed wacker. it then stuttered and died half mile a way. they came out to check it out and guy kept having it keep trying to die on him so they took it back to shop somehow. had it for weeks then said no problem anymore I had it for 2 weeks drove it 5 times and then id stuttered and died 3 time in parking lot and then refused to start again. towed home. then next day started so i drove it to shop. had to keep one foot on gas and other on brake at every light to keep it from dying. now they say it not acting up  they acknowledge something is wrong with it but say can't fix til it acks up which it won't for them. I so afraid ot drive a car that could die and not start at any time. i was always afraid of it dying back when it ran fine now that fear is 1000 times worse.

My first car was a Nissan and I had ignition problems after mixing up the terminals when I jumped it. I seem to remember my Stanza soldiering on though. Not sure I'd trust anything much newer to do the same. Since I'm guessing yours is the 2.5S model I wouldn't be surprised if there were some iffy ancillary systems you could get away with bypassing. Defer to your mechanic of course.

What do you drive sly? I hope it's not actually weed whacker powered!

Glad to hear you can get the work done and it's all working out!

Car trouble and being faced with a big expense is a horrible feeling. I'm relieved for you!

You replace ignition coils all at once. And if there were other things wrong, splitting things up would end up costing more.

Yep, I wasn't sure if that issue even could be split up, and I think I got the impression it was more than the coils somehow. It's just that in my own past I've had a mechanic tell me about a few things and one of them would be more urgent, and at times like that sometimes I could slide by getting that worst thing fixed and the next thing the following month, for example.

I guess not with this thing, but I'm glad he was able to go ahead!
