Stolen, hospital , healing , need help .
...Frankly , as it now stands , I am counting down to leaving here AMA on Monday , the 31st of October !
You see , while " throwing off fuller medical help " might be a bad idea , " losing my access to my SSDI account " (& the money in it being taken back) , and , indeed ," having it shut off " , I guess , would be a catastrophe ! ~ an immediate one . Not bad , worse . With effets that could be immediately apparent .
I have a PICC line in me .
I am anticipating , Thursday of next week , asking for a P-l specialist to come in Friday to take it out , so that I will be ready to leave with the P-l gone Monday as it's hard to get a P-l specialist and I certainly don't want to leave with a P-l in ~ OR , be delayed endlessly by a " We can't get the P-l specialist in today " delay , whether a sincere on , or a " trying to keep me from leaving " one .
As I said , I could use some help , on that front... ![]()
.. , as of yesterday , Friday the 21st , the " must utilize my SSDI or lose it " clock was set back , as I managed to get a (accompanied ~ by two hospital persons
) walk outside , during which I went to Walgreens' .
However , I don't know whether the advertised six weeks here will work out , yesterday a social worker here spoke to me and revealed:
Incorrect impressions (Basically , anyway .) on the part of staff here ~ that I " refused medicine " . Huh ???
Perhaps the " realizing I actually am HL after all (I was referred to here from a hospital , remember) - Both internalizing it , and aspects of my actions maybe reflecting my being HL , including the fact that remember I came in with only the clothes I was wear in , as , remember , my clothes were stolen on the night prior to the Monday I cam here , I was planning to try to do something that Monday , or Tuesday anyways but ended up getting hospitalized instead...When they asked if I had an address , I mentioned I do have the rented mailbox I have here in SF , the SW seemed so relieved , it's maybe that now they have an " address " to list as mine to put on a form they fill out ?
Also , maybe my insurance will run out early , also , (though no one said anything about this to me) maybe they discovered my court/jail record .
This stay even further made not doable any going to City College of San Francisco this Fall semester , as far as going later , once I was able to contact them via Web they said I'd have to r-apply for the later semester , and , the next semester is not until Spring 2016 not a " Winter/early in 2016 " apparently , and , I was told by one office that it would be a couple months before they'd put up anything about Spiring 2016 , there's nothing later than Fall 2015 on the site now...
Also , the whole thing of you wanting courses you take at a community college being tranferable to a four-year university is complicated by what seems to be the case which is that CCSF courses , regarding that , seem to place a lot of emphasis on being transferable to UC (University of California) or CSU (California State University) campuses ~ However , simplifying this , due to a matter I won't go into here it seems I cannot go to UC of CSU campuses at ALL !
, poossibly ! So , working for stuff transferable there , well
.
I don't understand why this is so , but it seems community colelges (CC) 's courses only tend to be transferable to four-year universities (" uni " , as the Australians put it) in that state , maybe not even all of that state (especially?? big & heavily populated California) and maybe in a couple of adjacent(Sp??) states , not in all of the 50 and D.C. which I thought would be so ~ Why not ?
Therefore , though I came here thinking that the programs described at CCSF sounded good , basically , if the " transferring credits " thing won't work out right for me , I don't know if its' worthwhile to try to go there ~ Though I'll have to look into that at more length when I can .
And , too , remember , though I'm physically OK now , and am getting treatment , and have computer use - It's not forever , it's not housing , and when it's all over I reasonably anticipate I'll be HL again , and I still need clothes , other things , could use money - And I just outlined how it's possible I could be kicked out of here/discharged next week , what that social worker was saying about the official address and my insurance certainly could point o that , and the afternoon I was discharged , as I am now , I'd be in dirty clothes
, no suitcases , nowhere to go , no cell phone , thhings here that need to be taken care of... ![]()
...San Francisco is going to host Super Bowl 50 and the rather business-oriented mayor , Ed Lee , has flatly said recently that HL ~ " they are going to have to leave " the Market Street area , where I tend to be , when the SB comes here- Y'all can find this easily with a Search yourself .
...I left my few clothes to be washed again , and though that , in itself , is good my T-shirts in them are really sort of tending to shrink , leaving my stomach's bottom getting somewhat exposed in a Dennis The Menace sort of manner that is , perhaps , a little " Huhh/WTF ? " in a 55-year old man
...
Really a major problem , my right arm has really been pained and " claw-esque " , not really able to pick up anything AT ALL ! , especially at my thumb
... I think it's most of all , because I have overdone computer use here (I am right-handed) , clicking on the mouse to post & read....I do think it's improving as of now , I begged extra pillows from the place (and even have got extra ice & rubbed it into the area) to rest the bad arm on it , now , sitting in front of the computer , I have the bad arm resting on the pillows and am mostly typing with my left hand , when I use the mouse likewise...and arranging my bed-lying down (Basically , the only two places I go to in here !
) to have my left propped up by the X-tra pillows ~ Even then , arguably , I'm typing too much now ?
I don't want to develop CPT
. And , anything else aside , it makes me wonder whether I would be physically up to note-taking/typing , on even a CCSF level , if I went there (A picture from a classroom in a newspaper here recently from a classroom there showed student taking note w/a pen ~ What ? I thought the incredibly kewwwelll New Power Generation of to-day's Modern , To-Day's Tech ! students never even heard of such antique 20th Century tech as a pen ! What's UP with that ?????????
)
.........
...KK , switching this here from the "80%...unemployed " line -Seeing people talk about routinely having " workers " (Actually , it's my fellow jailbird PeterHoping44 and he's in the UK and he didn't work very well with them anyway ! !!) , it makes me wonder what I would do with one ~ Of course , the problem/status I mor obviously have is being homeless , I'm clearly more visually a " homeless " person ~ Frankly , that sort of pushes the " nice " staus of being " an Aspie " , he said bitterly , out of the way ~ Even the fact that I am in/around the " HomelessLand " area , the Tenderloin area , of SF proably more obviously tags me as HL in itself ~ Aspies are cute big kids with Beatle/Lovin' Spoonful haircuts that you see on TV shows ! Um , anyway , that's incoherent?? , maybe I'll sign off now...
...Well , there's that strain on my arm , though as I said , I'm mostly left hand-typing ~ The fact that being here mostly lets me gorge myself on computer time (Even with my ultra-limited skills
) like I've practically never been able to do (Unlike more " normal " people
)...The ex
-toe wounds do seem 2B improving
(I say " ex-toes " since I don't HAVE 'em there ~ toes ~any more
)...
ote="kraftiekortie"]How are you physically?[/quote]
...The arm is getting better (Though I don't want to get it in that state again ! If I did , maybe it would be worse ?...) , the remainder-toes
are...But , remember , when this concludes I'm out , with no prospect of anything appearing and nothing-beyond-my-clothing now (Granted , some piled-up SSDI ~ But my every five-daysis " Walgreens' passes " (WP) do knock it down a bit , me junk-fooding out...And I know of nothing waiting for me when I walk out...If it involved even , this place delayinganddelaying til' a supposed " early in the ayem " release turned into the late fternoon , I'd get little done then
...
...I am wondering whether I am getting enough practice in walking again so as to get my balance back ~ I am in here all the time , bar the WPs , which are just for a blockish every five-ish days ~ When I'm out I'll presumably have to " hit the ground running " and start to take care of things ~ I don't know whether I would be released to a place , to absolutely nothing at all (Or perhaps some vague " go to this SS office and maybe you could go..." referral , or somewhere in between
.
...OK , this day an explicit comment from a staffer here that my time here is numbered came out for the first time ~ I have avoided saying " How long will I be here ? " but , in talking to a nurse , she said " You only have a week here " (I had avoided making explicit reference to/asking about when my time here would end .
) .
This went along with what I had been told when I first came here ~ This means I'd better , for one , try to ~ Well , I'll put this in order , though I'll put this up in installments .
I had been thinking I'd better cut down on my computer use , as , frankly , I tend to overdo it and have that aching in my arm I spoke about . Now , I have been on the computer a rather long time , and it took me a while to get into gear and start writing this particular post , though it's what I meant to write here before I came down here .
A bit ago , the PICC-line in my left arm fell out somehow ~ I certainly didn't take it out
! I think it just worked itself out .
This had happened at least once before . This time , after having a non-PICC-line IV thing inserted basically on the frontier between my arm and my hand as an interim IV port until the medico who could insert a PICC-line came , when said medico came he put a new PICC on my right arm , not my left ~ which has been the arm I really had trouble with , and put a pretty contracting bandage on it ~ It hrt , and even more when I overtire my arms doing this at the computer ~ Frankly , I was thinking that I'd best sharply reduce my using the keyboard on the computer here in my remaining time , as I anticipate that , bluntly , I'd likely not have a whole lot of ability to lie down & rest my arms when I'm gone from here ~ And this was before being v told of the upcoming-ness of my time running out
.
Bluntly , when I'm discharged , as I've said , I'd go along with an acceptable shelter situation (ASS) ~ basically , an OK shelter situation , even with shelter rules + hours (Likely having to clear out B4 7 AM , likely ~ " Navy hours "
? ~ when I was in that Watsonville/neighboring town shelter we were supposed to leave by 5:30 AM
~ and , having to get back by 6ish , at least if you want to get chow (I recall that , in 2013 , at an SF shelter , you could come back maybe up to 9:30 but , again , to get dinner it was like 6:00 ~ and , bluntly , lots of waiting around before , practically speaking anyway , you could go to bed .
What I'm outlining above is what I'd describe as an ASS , if I was able to leave stuff there during the day . I am in an energetic mood , that's why I'm managing to get this letter done , I tend to do things when a deadline is coming up
~ I tend to think I take after my newspaper-reporter parents there - but enough of the commentary
.
I was outlining above what would be an ASS , if I could leave stuff there during the day and try to get myself to try various offices/agencies ~ for a week anyway . However , would even such a ' reasonable "
help request happen ?
I tend to think that much is below the 50th percentile - meaning below 50% likely . That does not mean "" never " .
I haven't heard any explicit " You're being discharged on..." from the staff here ,. and I never heard any follow-up from the social worker/type who wanted to case manage me , if that's what she said .
Again , my time here is on the countdown . Most of all , I'd best get my wounds 100% healed B4 then !
As I said , too , I think maybe I'd best amp down my computer usage , so not to leave my arms too exhausted anyway . As I've outlined , I doubt I'd have any " full-time rest " opportunities immediately after this .
As I said , I anticipate leaving here with just my clothes + pockets' possessions .
I will have some SSDI money piled up , but I imagine it'd be less that a month of my normal SSDI , and I do have NOTHING !
, remember I will have to replace " EVERYTHING " , while homeless
.
...As far as the PICC-line and the interim IV port , on my right and left arms respectively , the right being where the pain/overuse especially is...I took the bandaging/wrap completely off the PICC but it itself in still there . The pain from the overly tight wrap on the right went away . The staff did not take off the interim IV port on my right after the PICC was put on , and , then , this night , the nurse putting an IV in the PICC said the interiem shouldn't be left in more than 3 days and it should be taken out ~ But then after doing the IV she did not take out the interim .
It is still in as I speak . When I thought that the right pain was more about the PICC line (rather than the too-tight bandage as it , I guess , is) I thought at least I could get my IV from the interim on the right and I anticipated pointing that out to the medicos , as I anticipated them giving me trouble about my disobeying their desire that I do exactly what they said and keep the tight wrapping on the right . However , the PICC remining on the right , as it is , might deflate any such complaints by them anyway ?
It seemed they might get insistent ' do it exactly as we say "
. However , now I'm anticipating that less ~ Though , who knows whether the " main " daytime medicos might be piggish/pushing me ?
I tell myself I'll do some using-my-hands-less stuff on the computer , like watching some movies on it , but someone came along and is watching Supernatural ? Charmed ? Gilmore Girls ? reruns on TNT .
