Not really...I don't really print out a lot of stuff, and care more about things you can do on a computer.

At the risk of straying OT too far, that is the #1 connectivity issue we see in our IT dept for laptop users. Saving grace is that maybe 90% of the time the switch is in the same location, at the front of the left side & pulling it forward turns the radio(s) on. Even worse are the software switches for wifi & bluetooth...

That's how I see it, too. For a technical discussion to to the Math & Comp subforum; to get sympathy & or a less technically intimidating attitude there's the haven. It's up to the person posting to decide which feels more comfortable, no?

For a regular personal computer, I'm a fan of buying a refurbished computer that came off of a corporate lease.

I bought my current laptop from Discount Electronics in Austin and have no issues at all with it. It came with a one year parts and labor warranty as well.

I bought my current desktop computer used from another vendor of refurbished computers via an auction site and it was a real pain in the neck -- the first one wouldn't boot and it took about a month for them to authorize it to be returned and then a couple of weeks after they received it to send a replacement. Plus, it's warranty is only three months.

Not sure how you meant it personally, but along those lines many of us imbue inanimate objects with a persona & irrational as it may be, feel sad when they get "hurt". In those cases, the emotions are the same as if a dog or cat had fallen seriously ill and was at the vet for a week.

Thank you Edenthiel, my fellow nerdy woman! But I don't feel the way you'd described.
I make money from my computer, if my computer were broken that means there would be a potential rule break between me and my clients which I value most. If there's some damage on hardware beyond repair, it means a disaster has occurred that needs to be recovered immediately which sounds very unlikely..you know this frustration.

Luckily I don't depend on my computer for a job, at least not at this point.

It would appear it should be here by monday, which is good as I am craving some League of Legends, I miss it a lot. More than I thought you could miss a computer game, this is probably the longest I've gone without playing it since I started playing.
