I emailed my therapist, and my therapist gave me a call.

We talked for about ten minutes. He stated that I am the kind of person who always has a need to obsess about something. For a while, it was porn, for a while, it was cinema, for a while, it was video games, for now, it is Internet forums. He strongly suggested that I apply my obsessive nature to something that will build me up, such as reading literature or going to college part-time after I recover from the pneumonia. He sincerely believes that I can transform my obsessive nature from a hindrance to an asset.

I recently started back to work after staying home with my kids for about 10 years. My husband says he could see me "come alive" within the first few weeks. I am better when i have a clear direction to take, as well. My jobs give me this. I have to be at a certain place, at a certain time, to do a certain job.

My great-grandfather had a lot of mental health issues and looking at the stories that were told about him, i am reasonably sure he was a bipolar aspie. He made the comment once that a job went much better when my great-grandmother was able to help him--he felt that he worked better and accomplished more if he were not in charge of a job. I believe she kind of took charge of a job when she helped.

Is this a possibility for you as well, that you need a clear direction to go? I have more issues with obsessing over things when i am sort of in limbo. An illness like pneumonia would be enough to do it for me. You have to rest, but still need an outlet for your mental activity.

KagamineLen, you should meet people offline. If you're as helpful face to face as you are digitally, then I see you having success.
