Hi boofle. I'm a bit depressed. Feeling worn down and a complete lack of enthusiasm for anything. I didn't get along with my first roommate so I found another place after a month. There were a couple of opium smokers in the new place, but they are gone now. The new tenants mind their own business. I'm spending a lot of time at my Mom's, but she is starting to lose her patience with me. I just don't feel comfortable in my room, but I'll have to get used to it.

i'm really sorry to hear that things haven't been the best for you, chick. thought your previous roomie situ had sounded promising but, clearly not.
i've not been coming here for a while and so i missed that update. sheer chance that i saw this thread when i did the other day!

as already stated by another poster (Raleigh) you're a tough cookie...your resilience is something i also admire. you'll gradually find your feet, one hopes.
and even if your mum is getting fed up, that's what mums are for  ...why don't you feel comfortable in your room tho?

ps. apologies for the delayed reply. i'm a bit unwell atm and haven't been up to posting that much.

Thanks :)

I'm not actually comfortable anywhere. My anxiety is constant. Meds help, but I'm just not comfortable in my own skin. The thing with the roommates is their proximity. There is a lack of privacy. My new roommates are pretty good though; they are quiet and stick to routines. The two who were there when I first moved in were constantly cooking and leaving the sink full of dirty dishes. Staying up late with visitors, who slept over. Angry outbursts from one. But they're gone now.

I am beginning to become more comfortable in the space. I barbecued yesterday for me and my Mom. And I watched an episode of the Walking Dead on my tablet in my room, so that's good. I have my computer at my Mom's and I do my coursework there as it's a more pleasant environment with my Mom, the animals and food. We are over our spat. We agreed that I wouldn't stay overnight here anymore, which is reasonable. I have a comfortable bed in my room. And it's safe there now. There are just so many people there. My roommates, the old lady upstairs, the landlord and his family next door. Always bumping in to somebody.

Sorry to hear you are feeling unwell, boofle.

previous roomies sound like a nightmare! 8O ...good that you're slowly getting there tho...the right roomies make a significant difference, as i've also learned to my own cost.
main thing is, your mum and you are ok again and you have a break from it all when you need at hers...that counts for something!

like you i'm medicated too...was a long time coming and i shouldn't have avoided it as i did. started them six weeks ago and they've started to help...am having a rather violent reaction to them tho...let's put it this way...my daily puking has led to a very close relationship developing with our loo.
add on the weight loss and tiredness and general unwellness, well, you get the picture  it's why i've not been about and so missed your news.

onward and upwards tho, right?

Right; the side effects should wear down eventually. I hope you feel better soon. Mine never made me feel sick, but they effect my vision.

I have gotten an interview for a peer support worker job. I would really like to get it. I think I would be good at it and I could really use the money.

Peer support? In what sense?

They use the "intentional peer support" method. I would be hanging out with others who struggle with mental illness. Mostly to get them out and give them an opportunity to spend time with someone. It's not counselling, it's more like activities and such.

Good luck! I think you would be good at that, too.

I agree. It's a skill you have. And it's marketable, too!

It's ironic that my screw ups and problems would make me a good candidate. Lol

Why do you think ex-drug addicts make the best drug counselors?

Because they know what they're dealing with.
