Someone to sit beside me
...I know what my experience was !
Oh , and a doc saying about me , " He's not good for anything but being on the back wards for the rest of his life "

It may just depend on how you talk to them and how you come across and how compliant you are and how willing you are to work with them.

That's just one Dr in one hospital in the 80s. there are tons of hospitals and some are better than others. They could also probably help you with a lot of things. Hospitals also have social services departments that do a lot of things for patients after they are released. They do more than govt social workers that just stick their noses in your life. There is a lot of help out there is you know where to look. My first suggestion would be to go to the hospital that you went to most recently for a physical health problems and talk to someone in the social services dept. She's not going to be the same govt caseworker. Tell her you're tired of living on the street and want to make something of yourself, that you have trouble communicating and coming across in the right way and tend to put people off and ask her if there is any help or she has any suggestions for you. That's probably the best way to go about it and it can't hurt to try. Make sure you tell her that you tend to come across the wrong way a lot of times so she won't immediately write you off when you get emotional or mad. And I'm sure you're going to tell me the reasons why you can't or won't do it, but try to put energy into thinking of ways you might could go talk to her. Yes, trying and failing can make people want to give up but once you give up there is zero chance you'll ever accomplish anything. And you have to show people you're making or are willing to, make an effort before they help you whether that's fair or not.

...Thank you for your concern , I have little time now and have only speedily scanned this .
I am not homeless now , however , as I've said .
I haven't seen the psychaitric profession apologize to me for what they did to me !
Or try to alleviate it
~
You are at a social status/level where the psychaitric profession will be relatively kind to you , I guess .
With me ~ they want to lock me away FOREVER !

...Obviously , the " someone to sit..." sort of expresses my desire for friendship/connection , too
~ Maybe OOM thinks I can only deserve friendship , even , if I can " barter " skills (which I don't have)
~ Maybe she doesn't feel that way .

...Why am I not allowed to do " frivilous " things on the computer , when everyone else does ~ Fifteen years later
? Yes , other people put videos up , etc. ~ I cannot
?
I do want to go to college (Though the problems of , just for the beginning , my HS/-era records being lost-ish is just the first , MASSIVE
, problem that must be solved before I can ever hope to go .) ~ Is that " serious " enough for you ?
I have no real personal friends of status , or family here - If this impresses you any , I have thought that - PERHAPS , I've gotten so old and not-healthy
that it's now seeming a little unlikely -
As far as getting any paid employment that pays me more than SSDI , with my lack of a background and having been HL/sick and slight legal record (From being HL or at least growing out of it but it's there) - I have thought that picking up some abilities/skills - and , credentials/" paper " - Even the connections I might make , either directly or indirectly - is about the only thing that would likely ever - MAYBE - lead to being someone-actually-wants to pay me employed , and , any going to school will take tone of (various) setting it up - Having full - basic - computer abilities would surely help
.
However, instead of just begging strangers and other posters to either sit there for hours and teach you or send you money to pay for some class to teach you, why not try and barter something with someone to teach you? Do you have some skill or something you could do in exchange for someone taking their time to show you? Is there a reason you want to learn this skill that you could put forward to persuade someone in a social services type job to find you a tutor? As in learning this skill could help you do something to earn money or help yourself in some way, rather than just wanting to learn it to have fun with it or to know how because everyone else seems to know how? In other words, asking people for a meal so you don't starve to death is one thing and people are more willing to give that than asking people for several hours so you can learn how to put up videos on YouTube or Photoshop stuff for fun. What will the person teaching you get out of doing it amd what will you get out of it when you learn how? If you find something convincing for either of those two things your more likely to get what you're looking for. Folks are more likely to take the time to show you how to use a program so you can get a job than they are to spend their time showing you how to entertain yourself. Find a convincing reason you need to know this or come up with something to offer in return and you might find a tutor.
Also, you have mentioned your hygiene several times and I want to suggest that if you're going to ask for someone to sit beside you for hours to show you this, and to do all of that for free, that you be showered and have on clean clothes for it. Most won't willingly sit by you for hours and teach you up close like that even if you missed one or two showers during a hot and sweaty summer, so you would be hard pressed to find someone to show you if you are very dirty and unkempt.
Also, another thing to remember is that many people will not be willing to do this because they will say that your priorities are wrong if you aren't spending time or trying to find a way to take care of your own self instead of just worrying about learning how to play on the computer more. It would be like having both your legs cut off but worrying and complaining about having a bad manicure with a smudged nail.
So those are probably the reasons why you're having trouble finding someone to help you with it. Also, maybe there are people who work in the psychiatric field who have classes in that during occupational therapy if you would consider inpatient treatment somewhere. I know I've been in the psych unit before and it really wasn't unpleasant.
