Also there's a 8-10 year age gap, and so if she rejects me her sister and our coworkers may see me as a creepy old guy perking on young women :s

She's legal. It's not that uncommon for younger girls to go out with older guys.

Society doesn't frown on this.

You'd be fine with your 18 old daughter dating a 30 old man?

My family wouldn't

It depends on the 30 year old.

I don't see much wrong with it.

When I was 19, I went out with a 38 year old.

But you're male. Society treats and views women differently then men. Like if a male student has sex with a female teacher. People be like way to go kid
Of a female student has sex with a male teacher they want to lynch the teacher.

I've seen a older guy dating s younger lady called cradle robbing , creepy, pervy etc but never when it's other way around unless it's 40+ woman dating a 20ish guy then they call her a cougar.

My family freaked out when my niece started dating a guy who was 20 when she was 17. They've gotten over it as she's still with him many years later.

I'm not the successful older guys young women tend to go for anyways. Also I'm not attractive.

A big teddy bear is an affectionate term. If someone has said that about you, it means they think of you as a person they may like to hug and feel warmth from, like a teddy bear. It dates back to children hugging their teddy bear.

Sly, I echo alot of the sentiments already posted. Don't waste opportunities. I regret a similar opportunity dating back over 10 years with a girl that I liked but never really spoke to. Don't reget things. Make your statements bold and clear BUT do it calmly and maturely.

Your job is important but so are your feelings. Have you even said hello to her? Does she know you exist? I would suggest formally introducing yourself and go from there. Don't jump right into wanting to date... but do make steps to get there. Again, don't let this be something you regret in 10 years time. Do something about it, just do it slowly and calmly and respect yourself in your decisions.

Yes she knows who I am . I say hi to her most everytime I see her. Had a talk about her school plans once and I even got the courage although maybe awkwardly to compliment her hair.

I dont know if she likes me back. The signs are mixed. Sometimes she waves at me or says hi before I do but other times she seems to have upset/irritated face (maybe) when I say hi to her.

I thought about asking if she'd want to hang out but didn't get alone with her today. No way I'd ask her with others near by.

The hug was from another lady(who's getting married) she came up to tell me her last day is next week and wanted to make sure we said good bye. After work she called me that and hugged me 0.o
She was one of the few women there who was nice to me though wasn't sure if she liked me much. I guess she we were close ? We'd talked on and off I enjoyed having somone to talk to at work and will miss her.

Obviously you're approachable, likeable and get on well with people. You clearly have the ability to make friends. Now that you have actually spoken to her and she even says hello to you first, I think you can show a little confidence with her by starting a conversation... about anything. Pick a topic and run with it. Just be yourself. Talking to her and having small conversations should help work out whether you two are even compatible as friends. If you are, that's fantastic and you can go from there.

Big deal. I've dated girls in that age range without incident.

(on a side note, I also had a girl about the same age as me tell me I'm too young for her and that she prefers older guys).

It sounds like this age thing is just that you're nevous to ask her out and you're looking for excuses to not ask her out so you won't have to be nervous.

Yes asking girls out is a little embaressing but it's way less embarrassing than being single all the time.

Did she call you a big teddy bear? :o

If so that means she really likes you. It means she wants to hug you. You're a tall, well built guy and some girls like that type of guy.

Don't be so self-depreciating because I know some short guys who would kill for your height and body type (also some girls like big tall guys for reasons I can't mention here).

Also when a girl calls you something like that, that's her subtle way of saying "ask me out!" becasue girls don't usually like being the one to ask.

So if she called you a big teddy bear you must ask her out on Monday. No ifs, ands or buts.

Yes you will feel nervous asking her out. That's normal. We all feel that when we ask someone out.

If she says no (which is highly unlikely if she called you a big teddy bear) there will be some awkwardness, sometimes not that much. There's a girl at my workplace I asked out and we're still able to collaberate with each other at work without weirdness.

If she says yes, the benefit far outweighs the cost of her saying no. What is a little awkwardness compared to being in a relationship with her? Just think how very, very happy you'll be to be in a relationship with this wonderful girl!

Just imagine, one day she could fall to sleep in your arms every night. You could be her big teddy bear :)

I don't feel most people would give too much thought to a relationship between an 18 year old and a 28 year old. Both are adults legally.

You're not the type of 28 year old that people would object to, anyway.

If you were 55, then questions would be asked.

Guys who are "experienced" in sexual matters, usually. Who they feel might "take advantage" of a young girl.

You're not the type of guy people would object to. You're the type parents would like.
