I think part of it that many who exit with a dramatic "I'm Leaving" post eventually come back. And some of them have done this more than once... they leave, they come back, they leave, they come back... it's like the several different "Farewell Tours" that the Rolling Stones have done.
Yes, this is happening very often. I can dig up at least three examples.
As for RedMage, I noticed that she was gone. What was I supposed to do? Post a "I really miss RedMage" thread?

I was sorry to see her go, but there's nothing you can do if she's actually leaving - which means not returning and reading the replies like some do. Besides, threads like that can quickly become awkward. Does that mean that I've forgotten about her? Not at all.
I try to be supportive - how many times have I told you that I care, that others care? - but we can only do so much. Actually, the amount of support for you on this board is extraordinary, and I've yet to see another member in any forum get the amount of replies you do. And I'm sorry, but some of the posts you thought were attacking you were not. There's always going to be one person who doesn't get along with the rest, and if you can't get over that, then maybe the forum isn't the best place for you. I'm sorry, but you've got to deal with this type of stuff. It's life. It's everywhere. If you attack right back, you're setting yourself up.
I agree with krex as well. Name dragging was unnecessary, especially since I've seen those members try to be nice and helpful to numerous people, including you. I don't believe it's fair to pay them back like that.
I do hope you get better, and I wish you all the best.
