Why does the term "shopaholic" appear prominently before me?

A habit, or addiction whether shopping , gambling or ___, starts out as a solution (to bring comfort or distraction) and becomes a problem.
First much happiness, small problems - then big problems little relief. In fact sometimes the behavior only gets you back to average or base, and when not present into the basement of emotions - physical, emotional and or spiritual.

^^^ not shopping, not gambling.

I don't think many people could guess it let alone understand it, it is so abnormal. I don't even understand it myself, it is not something a well-adjusted human being would do so compulsively. It's just an epic fail of a coping strategy; a coping strategy I can no longer cope with.

I don't want my vagueness to come off as attention seeking, I'm sorry if it does :( . It's just if I shared specifically I fear what I would lose.

It's probably pretty fascinating and unique, yet aggravating to you, and perhaps painful for your immediate companions.

It might be a manifestation of Genius; who knows?

I find that all sorts of addictions and bad habits are worse when there's a lot missing from life. Other than that, I'd say it's about putting it off: I can wait a few hours, a day, ETC.

Depression can be a co-morbid condition with addiction.

That reminds me that being deprived and depression look similar on the screen or down on paper.

I wasn't fishing earlier
Just saying there are many things one can be addicted to.

Racheypie is a very accomplished young woman who just might burn the candle on both ends sometimes.

Easier said than done, by maybe find some activity to fill the void left by quitting the habit, like a project or diving into a special interest. Anyway I wish you the best of luck and the cold turkey approach has always worked the best for me.

I'm just checking back in to remind myself that I'm doing OK at this.

I slipped initially, since then it has been hard but I'm doing it.
So even if I feel defeated now, which I do, I am winning at something, and it's really hard work.
