I'm glad you're still friends.

I think this person just likes to pull your chain a little bit. In other words, this person likes to provoke you so that you'll react. Some people find people's reactions to teasing and provoking funny.

People used to like my reactions when I threw temper tantrums when somebody mocked me.

She is too mentally healthy. She can't even conceive of the world I live in. I don't begrudge her this, but I do get angered by my experience being dismissed so hers can continue untainted.

It seems a lot that the world is geared to those functioning better than I do; like I my experience is less valid and should be swept under the carpet so as not to shadow those who are more successful. I resent this as I feel I have something to contribute.

So I apologized and she accepted my apology. Turns out her husband is waiting for triple bypass surgery, so I really picked my moment. God I'm such a dick.

I sensed that things would be cool.

I hope the surgery is successful.

I learned that people will say those two lines for reassurance and to make you feel better. It annoys me too because it feels they are not listening or understanding. Though it can be a compliment and great that someone sees you as you and doesn't mind what your challenges are and not judge you for them.

Looks like things went kind of well.

For the record if you are worried about being misunderstood, have you tried reaching out to those who are just a little similar to you they may get you more.

Pretending to be positive for your friend might be good, but you by no means were being a dick.
