Thank you everyone for the kind words. I spent the weekend with friends and family. I don't even know what to say to her parents. She was an Aspie too, and I know this is a tired cliche but she was always happy and had a lot of friends. I wish she didn't take them for granted. I'm an introvert but I'm trying not to isolate myself. When I'm alone I think myself into an endless feedback loop. Normally I would listen to music but my friends kind of kidnapped me yesterday and none of us realized the logistical issues of a spontaneous trip that I didn't have enough advance notice to pack for. So at least one thing hasn't changed. LOL

I'm very sorry about what you are going through. It will take a long time to heal, and this will probably stay with you to some extent forever. Try to find a way to turn it to good use, perhaps being kinder to people you know casually and kinder still to those who are friends.

So sorry for your loss.

I guess if there's anything we can all learn, it proves that being "socially successful" and "passing" and "beating the autism" isn't necessarily a recipe for "mental health."

I wish things were different.

I'm really, really sorry this happened. :(

I'm sorry but I think you misinterpreted what I said. She had genuine friends. She was actually quite extroverted. She embraced her autism and never tried to be normal. She saw normality as bland and boring. I'm not sure what caused her to do this but it wasn't because she was trying to "pass" as anything. That's not like her.
