I tend to like old television shows much more than "modern" shows.

Saying this, the 1980s was probably the worst decades for sitcoms.

I liked some old shows when I was a kid like I Dream of Genie, but it’s just not my type of humor anymore.

I couldn't have lived in any other era than the present, because of my need to take medication for a medical issue.

I have a great deal of nostalgia for the 70s, perhaps I think about the 70s too much. The 70s (and early 80s) was when I was in my 20s and was when I experienced most of my sexual adventures. To me, the 70s feel like a good decade to have been young, but I had a number of advantages that others did not. But when I look back on the 70s, I am mostly impressed by what a strange time that was and amazed that I was actually alive then. In point of fact, it wasn't a great time in the US, the combination of inflation and a stagnating economy for one thing, and Jimmy Carter was quite possibly the worst President of my lifetime (and yes I am considering ALL recent Presidents). And you could argue that until Reagan was elected, the Soviet Union was actually winning the Cold War.

I think the 70s would have been a horrible time to be my current age. I am happy to be alive now and not 40-50 years ago, even though many of my contemporaries are very eager to point out how much worse the world has gotten since then.

Bad things are going to happen regardless....they happened back in history, they happen today and they'll happen in the future. That statement cannot be argued against and won't change. What can change though is your perspective of the world around you. Yes there are many had things that occur but there's also many positive things as well. For some reason many people focus on the negative when it comes to their personal issues and external events. I dare you to make a gratitude list off all the good things about you and your life. If you can walk, be grateful for it. You obviously physically used some device to post your thread, be grateful you are able to do that. Be grateful for food you eat or a significant person in your life. Try the gratitude list, if you don't feel a little better after doing it than you didn't write enough. That's just one thing you could do to change your perspectives. I'm not trying to preach, but I'm doing it to hopefully help you through a difficult time.

Oh yeah, I always thought I should've been born in the early 50s so I could experience the 60s but then I thought, I would have no computer or cell phone back then lol, so I thought briefly of things I was grateful for in the present
