Bet you could get lost riding in the Rokies...I'd need a GPS tracker, always getting lost.
Sounds like a good plan. Maybe you could teach people......tech lessons?

Fingers crossed I'll be getting a cool software job I really wanted soon but the worry is that I won't have any time to get lost as usual, or talk to anyone I know for that matter. I used to go on night hikes all the time but my friend who was into it moved away. You eventually learn to read the terrain up there as you're going because it's mostly untouched national forest land without much view but trees. A lot of our trails are also at least signed, or they have a few landmarks. I always have a hard time getting new people into my crazy outdoor interests, let alone technological ones.

Do you ride in the snow? I rode during heavy snow storms earlier this year. I want to do more of that. I had a vague sense of guilt as I passed all the stuck cars but it was beautiful.

I just have a 26" jump bike so I do in town sometimes but the park tires aren't perfect, good to accelerate but you have to coast down and let it float through turns vertically. I'll have more serious knobbies on my next bike, or when I rebuild my single speed. I generally just go skiing or get lazy though since I have an AWD car. The car is the default lately, I guess I've been paranoid about my various sports injuries as a result of all this.

It's going to take a fair bit more training and time but I think the obvious choice is to put more cash into sports and less into technology. Unless I can get jobs I love it's more stress than it's worth. I need to find the right exercise routine & diet for my extremely skinny body type instead of letting desk work run me into the ground.

I agree that the tech is ultimately less rewarding than being active or exploring the world.
Why not spend more money on food rather than equipment? You might feel more Grounded.

I've been cooking more lately which has helped a bit but that's also just how I naturally am, so I'm walking a narrow line in terms of fitness; I've determined I'm pretty far into the Broad Autism Phenotype. Anyways my money is spent before I can earn it; I could really use a more serious laptop at some point, new skis and I'd like to go for one of these:

Thus there's a ton of work and math to do before I can get back to my real life. I'm not even sure myself but I think this is why I can't sleep at 4:30am; still no word on my job.

I've always been skinny but I'm building stone steps and eating more. I'm enjoying having more bulk instead of getting wiry, like I said it's grounding.
The bike looks good. I bought a Cove Hand Job mountain bike with Shimano xt parts and Hope brakes. It came with 2 spare brand new Continental Speed King tyres. It cost me £40 ($52) on eBay. It's hard as nails.
I also have a Dawes Ranger mtb frame with drop bars and 700c wheels fitted as my touring bike. It's steady doing 30 mph downhill loaded up with gear. It's a weird looking beast with a very long wheelbase but it's pretty quick and comfy.
I look out for steel bikes that need a bit of work on them. Maybe you need something really top end for the Rockies

I'm just starting by eating better. It's almost 2am now and perhaps I'll munch more but first shower & thoughts of bed. :|

I'm just here because I'm super fracking weird and I need to temporarily escape the consequences of that on a more frequent basis.

Heh it's 6pm now and I've still got some coldbrew here. I buy so much my barista friends stopped charging me. :bounce: Probably better that I don't make my own but I still limit myself to 2 major caffeine kicks a day; it's not like I could even pretend to have a normal sleep cycle anyway.

New monitor is telling me to give my eyes a rest, I already hit the setting to try. 8O

The hardtail I posted is a Salsa Cycles Woodsmoke. It will probably replace my Bianchi shiny ass single speed for cross country if I can't unstick the seatpost from the chromo.

I was just daydreaming about buying some pricey skis too. Retail therapy for adrenaline junkie hackers isn't easy.

Oh s**t, seized post, have fun, mind the paintwork.
I just realised that single speed must be lovely and quiet to ride.

They're awesome. Near 100% reliability. I'm only considering gears at the back.

Well anyway I got my job, now instead of freaking out about unemployment I can do so about background research for work. That and not knowing when or how I'll see most of my friends next. Maybe I can just shut my brain up until I make enough money to transcend that last one.

Good luck with the job. Will that add more rhythm to your life?

 Drilling myself on BMX pump tracks will. I need to work some beers off. I have no clue what my job might be like, only that it should be better; I won't know for a week though. All I know is that I studied way more for this than the rest of what I do.

f**k I miss this thing. (This one's not mine, I can't bear photos of messes in my garage) I have the XS model so it's like a trials/'push' type of bike.

I know this is TL;DR for everyone else but I fear I'm too weird to ever seem professional. I think I'll have to get by on sheer volume of knowledge.
